The University of Texas Medical Branch Police Department strives to provide protection and service in a courteous manner to the faculty, staff, students, patients, and visitors of UTMB in conformance with the Regents rules and Regulations, UTMB policies, or federal, state, or local laws and ordinances. The Department also implements programs that are aimed at preserving the assets of UTMB.
This position directly supports the financial and business processes within the UTMB Police Department. It is a highly-intensive position requiring great attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to think and act on own initiative in providing process management of financial, human resources, and administrative support functions.
From $46,320 To $52,000 Annually
Specific Job Related Duties
Financial related duties:
Assists in maintaining financial stability of department through effective and accurate inventory control and analysis.
Compiles and prepares detailed financial, statistical, and annual reports for the department.
Compiles all monthly reports and is highly involved in the monthly reconciliation process.
Prepares comparative analysis and reports reflecting variations in expenditures and revenues.
Conducts cost studies and monitors the department's account structure.
Monitors the department's revenues and posts all journal entries and/or cost transfers.
Analyzes financial data and initiates appropriate action when necessary.
Develops and maintains annual financial and budget reports.
Assists the Senior Financial Analyst in all aspects of the annual budgeting processes.
Identifies variances in expenditures and makes recommendations for resolution.
Trains others in financial duties and responsibilities.
HR related duties:
Submits HR transactions in PeopleSoft as requested by management
Ability to think independently and make decisions as necessary.
Stays current with applicable policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
Recommends, initiates, and facilitates the collaborative development of team process change and new programs.
Assists in department projects as assigned.
Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent and 2 years of finance and/or accounting experience required.
Strong MS Excel skill with ability to do pivot tables, graphs, and detailed spreadsheets
