Position Summary

Under the general direction of the Director Technical Services Manager. will be responsible for all aspects of product quality in the organization in addition to Quality Control/Quality Assurance Program Management across the South Metro Ready-Mix district. The Technical Services Manager will supervise all district Technical Services employees, provide direction to all quality-related activities, and will be a professional product quality resource to all value added product organizations. Represents South Metro district on all technical matters and coordinates directly with Sales Representatives and customers to provide technical solutions. Will support and assist all Ready Mix plants within the district. May be required to completed additional tasks as required by the company.


  • Member of Management Team focused on establishing our Company as the market leader and supplier of choice

  • Coordinate the daily activities of service representatives to ensure quality expectations of customers are met

  • Develop, implement and sustain multi-regional QC/QA programs and enhanced collaboration techniques

  • Maintain files for mix design accuracy for customers and projects

  • Review all job specifications for sales in bid preparations

  • Coordinate special material needs with the production coordinators

  • Perform principal duties of a Technical Service Technician as needed

  • Act as the primary point of contact with our customers to resolve technical or service related problems or inquiries

  • Manage direct reports through the coordination of daily operations and established responsibilities

  • Develop in-house testing programs for all incoming raw materials and mix designs

  • Develop cost effective material sourcing and coordinate with transportation, cement, and aggregate groups

  • Use an entrepreneurial approach to work with ready-mix and other product groups to help capture the optimal value from our vertically integrated supply chain

  • Develop long term business plans and strategies for the department

  • Other duties/assignments as required

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Related college degree or equivalent, Professional Engineer (PE) preferred

  • Minimum of five years’ experience in quality control

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of Command Batch System

  • Completion of ACI concrete technology courses through level II

  • Working knowledge of ACI and ASTM standards and THD and COG specifications

  • Ability to teach

  • Customer service focus to provide solutions to meet/exceed customer requirements

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Good verbal and written communication skills with internal and external customers

  • Some supervisory experience preferred

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is beneficial

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 100lbs. to waist high a minimum of 40 times a day

  • Ability to climb an 8 foot plus ladder a minimum of 100 times a day

  • Ability to visually inspect concrete and or its ingredients for acceptance

  • Ability to walk and stand on uneven or slippery surfaces for an 8 + hours per day

  • Must be able to operate Company vehicle for a minimum of 8 hours per day including entering and exiting the vehicle frequently

  • Exercise independent decision making, prioritize conflicting demands, communicate positively with employees, customers and vendors

  • Must be able to read, write, and verbally communicate in English

  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time (up to 8 hours) stand, stoop, and bend

  • Work minimum of 10 hour days, 5 days per week and some Saturdays
