Job Summary

Provides general business and financial operations support to a department or group of professionals under general supervision. Makes moderately complex business process decisions requiring a comprehensive knowledge of a wide range of regulations, policies, procedures and business practices. Specific departments may provide additional guidance with a departmental position description.

Additional Summary Specific to Job

  1. Coordinates the day to day business and financial processes.

  2. Coordinates and monitors travel and purchasing.

  3. Regularly handles confidential information and sensitive issues.

  4. Coordinates submission of resident funding requests and updates hospital funding tables.

  5. Monitors open encumbrances. Monitors expenditures and provides reports on the budget status. Provides a comparison between actual and budget.

6.Responsible for acquisition of documents needed to monitor adherence to grant or program requirements.

7.Maintain departmental equipment and space inventories.

  1. Provides support for Medical Foundation Board meetings.

  2. May serve as administrative liaison with hospitals regarding annual contracts for resident training.

10.Assigned routine budget and financial responsibilities by supervisor. Maintains and reconciles financial records/reports. FMS training with a passing score is required. Limited signature authority.

  1. Serves as institutional administrator for the National Resident Matching Program.

  2. Coordinates resident grievance process with guidance from Director.

  3. Ensures proper paperwork for visiting residents and for resident away rotations.

  4. Assists with annual orientation of new residents.

  5. Other duties as assigned.

Organizational Requirements


Bachelor's degree level of higher education in business related field required. Equivalent level of education and/or experience may substitute for education requirement.


One (1) year related work experience required. Prior experience in finance, accounting, business administration or business management required.

Departmental Requirements/Preferences

Working knowledge of standard Office Software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook is required. Working knowledge of University financial systems is preferred

Salary Range

Commensurate with experience

This position works with Houston Independent School District (H.I.S.D.) students.


This position works with minors under the age of 18 years.


This position will be working in a laboratory or clinic


This position will use radiation sources
