University of Houston Associate Vice President of University Advancement Operations in Houston, Texas
The Associate Vice President of Operations for University Advancement will develop, plan, and implement programs for University Advancement Operations, to include: Business Services, Information Technology & Reporting, Gift Processing & Compliance, Communication, Training, Recruitment, and administrative oversight.
Oversee the execution of successful university Advancement operations programs.
Develop long and short range strategic plans for technology, design and identify resources needed for goals to be met.
Plan, develop, and implement staff development programs including recruitment, on-boarding, training and facilitation of a division-wide service culture; and implementation of employee relations and communications strategies.
Oversees the preparation of the annual budget for department programs and provide direction for strategic planning and development.
Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with university and state regulations.
Expand the Advancement division’s impact and resources, development through the identification and engagement of new funding partners (corporate, foundation and individuals).
Assist with the execution of a successful fundraising and alumni relations plans, both as a member of the senior leadership team and through the support services under direction.
Implement executive reporting packages that meet the changing landscape of the $1 Billion campaign and expanding alumni relations program.
Achieve fully operational revised advancement services team including endowment compliance support, updated gift agreement and naming policies and procedures; gift acceptance, processing and receipting operations reflective of current industry best practices, and enhanced recurring and ad hoc reporting services, among others.
Oversees (TRIP) Texas Research Incentive Program management and administration.
Performs other job related duties as needed.
Requires application of advanced principles, techniques and theory in a professional discipline or a thorough general business management knowledge. Knowledge of this level is typically obtained through a directly job-related Master’s degree or equivalent formal training in a recognized field of specialization that is directly related to the type of work being performed.
Requires a minimum of seven (7) years of directly job-related experience.

The position reports to the VC/VP of University Advancement and provides services to: Business Services, Information Technology & Reporting, Gift Processing & Compliance, Communication, Training, Recruitment, and administrative oversight.
Reporting to the VC/VP of University Advancement, this position will:
Build and provide leadership and policy decisions of the entire range of advancement services and strengthens relationships with a broad range of constituents.
Be responsible for budgeting and human resources, database administration, accounting and reporting, advancement systems including data delivery, analytics and performance reporting.
Oversee advancement recruitment and employee development and ensure compliance with University of Houston policies and procedures.
Be responsible for the business strategy planning and development, design, identification and implementation of systems/process improvements to the Advancement Information System, including oversees all business documentation processes and protocols.
Work with the Gift Management team to design and implement Advancement-wide guidelines and standards for data maintenance of constituent data in Advance, with an understanding of accounting principals, CASE and IRS guidelines, and Advancement policies.
Work with senior University leaders to shape and communicate key messages related to the institution’s highest priorities and key initiatives.
Create and develop strategic, integrated communications strategies.
The ideal candidate will possess:
A minimum of seven years of progressive experience in development, with at least five of those years in management; higher education is preferred.
Strong supervision and mentoring skills with a track record of motivating and evaluating multiple staff members.
Advanced knowledge of major gift fundraising and capital campaigns.
Strong organizational and communication skills and a clear, concise writing style.
Creativity required introducing new ideas and incremental change balanced by a respect for the traditions.
Professional in appearance, demeanor, and decision-making.
Willingness to travel and work evenings and weekends as necessary.
