Exciting opportunity in our Children's Learning Institute to engage in multiple child development research projects involving assessment, intervention, and behavioral analysis coding. In this role, you will gain valuable research experience. Preference given to those who can commit to greater than two years tenure in this role (as performance allows), as well as to those who possess strong bilingual skills in Spanish.

Responsible for multiple projects and will be working with multiple supervisors and other Research Assistant staff. Will work with a wide range of research subjects. Occasionally will assist in training other employees in various tasks. May be responsible for day-to-day scheduling and some coordination of various research projects.

Additional Summary Specific to Job

Primary responsibilities include:

-Perform cognitive/social/emotional assessments with children, which include an extensive battery of psychological and educational based evaluations. Successful training and certification is required. Assist senior research staff in managing and tracking appropriate research equipment and supplies.

-Complete reliability status on projects requiring live coding and/or observational evaluation and adapt to meet differing project needs quickly, including certifying other observers.

-Attend relevant trainings, assist in recruiting subjects (teachers, students, families and individuals) and obtain informed consents from potential research study participants.

-Organize presentations and present study information to parent/teacher gatherings.

-May be asked to serve in a coaching role involving extensive trainings and regular meetings to maintain certification and reliability.

-Supervision of a group of part-time employees at a designated location may be required.

Organizational Requirements

If filled at the CLI Research Assistant I level, requires:

Bachelor's degree in psychology, human development, biology or relevant field or experience in lieu of degree; master's degree preferred.

Experience in customer service, behavioral analysis or research experience is preferred.

If filled at the CLI Research Assistant II level, requires:

Bachelor's degree in psychology, human development, biology or relevant field or experience in lieu of degree; master's degree preferred.

One year of behavioral analysis or research experience.

Departmental Requirements/Preferences

Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Human Development, Biology or relevant field with one year of behavioral analysis/research experience or relevant experience in lieu of education; master's degree preferred.

Excellent professionalism and interpersonal and communication skills.

Bilingual skills in English/Spanish strongly preferred.

Reliable personal transportation, some projects may also require out of town travel which will vary from Houston and surrounding areas to various sites across the state of Texas. Occasional night and weekend work will be required.

Completion of the Certification for Protection of Human Research Subjects is required within 5 days of employment.

The employee in this position will be working in a setting that involves exposure to:

Research subjects with face to face interviews/assessments in daycare facilities, homes and/or schools.

Salary Range

Commensurate with experience
