Job Description

The University of Houston seeks an outstanding optometrist in the area of cornea and contact lenses to join the Department of Clinical Sciences faculty in its College of Optometry, which is internationally recognized for its clinical and research faculty (see for details).

The successful Clinical Track applicant must possess an OD degree, must have completed a residency in Cornea and Contact Lenses, or have equivalent clinical experience, and have expertise in specialty contact lens fitting. The candidate will be expected to participate in clinical teaching, patient care and administrative activities within the Cornea and Contact Lens Service of the University Eye Institute and Clinical Sciences Department. The candidate must be eligible for optometric licensure in the state of Texas. Experience or willingness to participate in didactic teaching is desirable. The successful candidate will be expected to administer the Cornea and Contact Lens Service, including managing patient logistics and schedules, students, faculty, staff, materials and Service finances. In addition, participation in clinically relevant scholarship within the framework of patient care is desirable.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be eligible for a license to practice optometry in Texas. Residency training and/or significant practice experience.
