Controls Lead Technician Position needed in NW Houston – Direct Hire

Kelly Engineering is has immediate direct hire role available in Northwest Houston for one of Kelly’s premier client in the food & beverage industry.

Position Summary:

Responsible for the overall Controls/Technology functions of the baking facility. This position will execute systems and processes related to maintenance and production to achieve consistently high quality products produced efficiently in an HPWS environment. Position will take an ongoing lead role in the development and implementation of the HPWS.


5+ years in maintenance 7+ years’ experience in maintenance and some supervisory experience preferred AIB certification preferred Software - Control Logic, Slick 500


High School Diploma or Associates Degree preferred


Analyzes and solves technical maintenance issues focusing on programmable logic. Encourages and monitors the development of associates’ skills – both technical and leadership. Ensures safe working conditions for associates and compliance with all state and federal regulations on environmental, health and safety issues. Manages and develops plant maintenance programs and PLC updates to ensure minimal downtime. Implements systems to assure that products are manufactured in a safe, sanitary and efficient manner. Identifies, implements and manages capital improvement projects relating to equipment upgrades and technical capability. Recommends and/or implements appropriate training programs to address developmental needs for the Maintenance Techs. Assures an effective Electrical and Programmable Logic PM program for the facility. Administers and audits all safety control programs. Develops training programs for maintenance supervision and mechanics relating to Electrical or Controls Technology (PLC.). Assists in the development in short and long term planning, objectives, programs and goals and department budget and cost controls. Responsible for reporting and taking any necessary action to prevent food safety and food quality problems from occurring.


Five or more years of hands-on management experience in maintenance and engineering. Operational background in electrical circuitry, refrigeration, fuel burning equipment and machine mechanics. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of PLC programming (Required) He/She will be familiar with programs like IPM (Integrated Process Management) or a similar statistical process and control system. Knowledge of safety related issues including compliance with State, Federal and Local regulations. He/She will demonstrate strong leadership, teamwork and communication skills and have the ability to use a personal computer. AIB certification preferred. Strong knowledge of Environmental Reporting to meet Federal, State and Local Legal requirements. .

Good communication skills. Ability to lead and manage the maintenance teams and transfer PLC/Electrical knowledge.
