Cook opportunities in Dining Services. The ideal candidate will have at least one year related experience in a high volume food service environment and must be willing to work a varied shift.
The primary purpose of the Cook I position is to provide semi-skilled service in preparation and delivery of food. Accurately prepares assigned food items from standardized recipes. Clean equipment and area following established procedures. Operate food service equipment with supervision. Perform related activities as required. Attend scheduled meetings and training as assigned. Issue and inventory food items. Participate in inventory/cost control in designated area. Perform computer-related activities as required.
Responsible for any short-order cooking assignments in the venue.
Consistently communicates with the appropriate supervisor daily for assigned kitchen duties and completes tasks as scheduled.
Consistently makes weekly reviews of schedules and bulletin boards for scheduled meetings and training sessions, and is present and on time for all assigned meetings, as observed by the appropriate supervisor, and reflected in attendance records.
Safety and Sanitation
Thoroughly cleans and sanitizes equipment and work area daily with fresh sanitizing solution and a clean rag, according to established procedures, as observed by the appropriate supervisor and reflected in sanitation inspection reports.
Consistently and accurately makes daily rotations of stored food items, utilizing oldest food items first, as observed by the appropriate supervisor
Consistently reports spoiled or poor quality food items to the appropriate supervisor, as observed by the appropriate supervisor.
Safely operates food service equipment necessary to complete assigned tasks with 100% accuracy following established procedures, as trained by the appropriate supervisor and observed by the appropriate supervisor.
Consistently checks with supervisor daily to determine the distribution of leftover food items according to established procedures and accurately records all product transactions on computer forms.
Accurately performs daily inventories of all leftover items, discarding unusable items and reuses or returns to storage useable leftovers, as observed by the Assistant Chief Cook.
Consistently prepares assigned food items from standardized recipes with 100% accuracy.
Issues food items with 100% accuracy to the venue by utilizing computer print outs and records items issued according to established procedures.
Accurately prepares and inventories assigned food items in bulk, according to the established procedures, as observed by the appropriate supervisor.
Accurately reviews all computer-generated information for content and makes reports to the appropriate supervisor, as observed by the assigned Assistant Chief Cook.
Other Duties as assigned.
Preferred: High school diploma
Required: One year related experience in a high volume food service environment or equivalent culinary education or successful completion of the Dining Services Apprentice Program.
