Position Summary

The Director, HSE, Field Services America’s is accountable for building and leading a high performing HSE team to provide a full suite of HSE support and expertise for a high growth business. This role is a key advisor to the Vice President/General Manager and their regional leadership team. This role is the lead role in developing and implementing the critical HSE initiatives to drive and support profitable business growth and operate in alignment with the company values and global HSE Organization.

The Director of HSE will be part of the Jacobs Field Services management team. In this leadership role, the Director of HSE will interact with Jacobs sites, clients, and offices to ensure successful management of all Field Services functions in accordance with established policies, procedures, systems, and requirements approved by the company.

The key stakeholders for this position are our Jacobs employees at project locations across the United States and Canada, the Field Services America’s leadership team and the Global HSE Organization.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ensures the workforce iscommitted to the Beyond Zero culture of caring philosophy thereby creatinga safe working environment.

  • Directs, develops, communicates,and implements the company’s strategic goals to assigned area ofresponsibility

  • Identifies market trends andapplications for existing and new technologies

  • To coordinate performance andassurance programs across the business unit, focused on continual improvementof our HSE performance.

  • To foster partnerships withclients, and key stakeholders, whether project focused or not, toestablish Jacobs as an industry leaders in the HSE field.

  • To deliver strategic HSEservices and resources in support of all facets of the business, startingwith the sales process through project execution.

  • To take stewardship andmanagement of the Jacobs VPP, (Voluntary Protection Program).

  • To manage and maintain 3 rd party qualification registrations primarily used as part of the businessunits requirements to operate, examples are ISN and PICS.

  • Build, grow and maintain astrong HSE team to support business operations across the Business Unit.

  • Subject matter expert for thebusiness unit in terms of compliance with federal, state, provincial andclient requirements relative to HSE.

  • Work with Key Stakeholders todevelop and implement a robust injury case management program.

  • Work with other Business unitsacross Jacobs in our Field Services role, supporting the companiesintegrated project delivery capabilities.

  • Ensures an Incident and InjuryFree approach to performing work.


  • Minimumof 15 years of experience in industrial construction and/or maintenance fieldrequired

  • Minimumof 10 years of management experience, preferably at the Senior HSE Managerlevel or higher required

  • Musthave experience managing HSE in support of a direct hire workforce.

  • Demonstratedsafety leadership experience required

  • Arelevant Health and Safety tertiary undergraduate or post graduatequalification preferred

  • Excellentinterpersonal and communication skills with people at all levels of theorganization.

  • Self-motivated with demonstrated experience inbuilding relationships.

  • Solidcommunication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Experienceworking in both the United States and Canada is a plus.


This position will be responsible to oversee all HSE related matters, and people with support from the business leaders. The business currently has over 70 site locations across the United States and Canada, consisting of an estimated 9,000 employees.
