Dresser-Rand ETO Sourcing Manager – Americas in Houston, Texas

Position Overview/Summary:

Coordinates Engineered to order (ETO) sourcing in the proposal phase of major buyouts (Motors, Generators, Gears etc), auxiliary systems (Lube Systems, Gas Seal Panels, etc) and engineered diversified components (Anti-Surge Valves, Dry Gas Seals etc) for Compressor and Gas Turbine packages, for Americas region, to insure compliance with customer requirements consistent with D-R policies and procedures, to insure warranties, terms of payment, and cash flow are consistent with D-R requirements, and works in coordination with other Strategic Sourcing Managers to support D-R Global Strategy for ETO equipment sourcing.

Position Qualifications (Required and Preferred):

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in an engineering discipline with minimum 5 years of relevant experience; or M.S. degree in engineering discipline with 3 years of relevant experience; or M.B.A with technical B.S. degree with 5+ years of relevant experience; or equivalent experience equal to education level.

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint

  • Knowledge of sourcing processes

  • Good problem solving and decision making skills

  • Long Term Contract experience

  • Low Cost Country Sourcing experience

  • Cost modeling

  • Leader, self-starter

  • Ability to work effectively in a matrix organization

  • Strong communication skills and relationship building ability

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Foreign Language Skills are a plus

Position Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Scope: Engineered to order equipment (ETO) – MBO, Aux Systems, Diversified Comp., Extended Scope

  • Provide supplier recommendations and sourcing strategies on a project by project basis that supports Dresser-Rand value proposition and maximizes client satisfaction

  • Expedite supplier quotes in time for Dresser-Rand proposal submittal to client

  • Manage supplier engagement as client bidding conditions evolve

  • Maintain up to date knowledge of supplier contacts, capabilities, capacities, strengths etc

  • Negotiate in time to ensure most competitive supplier quotes

  • Negotiation includes pricing, delivery, strategic partnership, flow down of onerous terms etc for the responsible project

  • Maintain technical understanding of ETO products to negotiate effectively

  • Analyze bid tabulations to ensure parity and strategize for negotiations

  • Participate in Regional Review Board (RRB) and provide inputs from an MBO supplier standpoint

  • Participate in cost review meetings

  • Participate in risk assessment and mitigation discussion as necessary (ETO equipment)

  • Prepare Proforma contracts during ion/ award stage for fast processing of PO to suppliers

  • Attend kick off meeting with operations to ensure smooth transfer of ETO supplier info

  • Provide inputs on cycle time reduction, long term cost reduction, VAVE, etc.

  • Obtain and share market intelligence from supply base and feed to CS / Sales

  • Maintain supplier relationship to ensure collaboration on future opportunities

  • Initiate project specific supplier qualifications for new suppliers in collaboration with the Global Category Manager

  • Provide inputs to Category Management during Supplier Evaluation Process

  • Share best practices / issues learnt with ETO suppliers with PDE’s for risk assessment

Other Additional Duties:

  • Actively participate in strategy building and execution for providing low cost and local content solutions.

  • Support regional activity and client interface as necessary.

  • Provide opportunities to push Global Dresser-Rand spend leverage capability.

  • This position operates in Americas region with annual spend engagement of approximately $30-$50M
