Description -

The Storage SME works across the organization to design, develop, test and deploy & Support physical storage infrastructure and processes designed to meet the performance, capacity and cost requirements of the business.

In this role you will be a key, senior-level member of a team that manages a large, complex site of storage systems. You will primarily focus on D2D operation of Storage and backup subsystems. Manage service provider to deliver on the SLAs. You will also evaluate and recommend new technology for the company, be an 'sme' across the organization and with service provider.

You will need a solid understanding of a storage-based operating systems, experience with enterprise storage hardware and software, including SAN, NAS, MPIO, backup and recovery software. You will also need strong experience with virtualization technologies, hyper-converged systems, Amazon Web Services (AWS) and ideally, system administration experience in an RDBMS environment


  • Maintaining knowledge of emerging storage technologies and offerings while providing operation support for enterprise storage systems, including SAN, NAS and direct-attached

  • Provide Operation support for backup, recovery and data replication technologies

  • Contribute to Long term Roadmap for Storage & Backup solutions with Architecture team

  • In Storage SME role direct and evaluate work of Services provider in Managed Services environment

  • Maintaining and reporting of cost, capacity and performance metrics for Storage and backup systems

  • Capacity planning Typically requires bachelor's degree or equivalent and 10 to 12 years of related experience.

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, MIS/CS related majors would be preferred with 10 years of industry experience

At least 5 years’ experience working as a senior or higher systems administrator on Windows, Unix and virtualization platform for a multi-national company larger than 3,000 employees;

Solid experience of administrating and managing servers and systems, various flavor of Severs OS - Microsoft Windows, Linux/Unix

Hands-on experience on VMware (5.x/6.x) or MS Hyper-V (2012) administration, including cluster administration;

5+ years' experience in managing and supporting Enterprise SAN, storage, systems and infrastructure or related network storage solutions

Hands-on experience on AWS, Azure will be a big plus;

Extensive hands-on experience dealing with infrastructure solutions. Expert level knowledge of x86 operating systems, virtualization, security, networking, and management frameworks highly desirable

  • 2+ years' experience with VMWare storage provisioning and optimization

  • 2+ years' experience integrating storage with VMware environments (as datastores, RDMs, with SRM, etc.)

  • Experience with Cisco Nexus and Brocade switches, concepts (ISLs, zoning) and associated management tools

Knowledge and Skills Required:

Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in SAN administration, management, and configuration

  • Expert knowledge of multiple storage technologies (3PAR, EMC,NetApp) related storage solutions

  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in SAN administration including storage provisioning process, thin provisioning, RAID, SAN troubleshooting and VMware connectivity

  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with Cisco fibre channel, HBA firmware, multi-path software, and SAN fabric management

Solid knowledge of LAN and TCP/IP networking. Network administration experience is a big plus;

Basic knowledge of SAN/NAS storage. Storage administration experience is a big plus;

Working in an Outsourced environment and ability to manage service provider to deliver on SLAs is must

Must have basic sense of ITIL fundamental (esp. change/configuration/incident processes);

Strong NAS (NFS, CIFS, iSCSI) deployment and administration

Knowledge of network storage protocols (FC, FcoE and iSCSI)

  • Experience or knowledge of ScaleIO or similar scale-out server SAN architectures

  • Experience in working with Cloud environment

  • Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses

  • Understanding of outsource model and ability to work in managed services environment
