Volt Information Sciences Linux Helpdesk / Tech Support in Houston, Texas

This is an IT Contract position tasked with quickly coming up to speed on the company's network design, Linux/Windows servers and troubleshooting as well as the processes and procedures. The contractor will be trained on existing IT projects and assigned tasks and tasks by the Systems Analyst.

  • This is contract position only currently slated for 2 - 4 months

  • Max pay rate is $18/hr.

  • Must have Linux and Windows server experience

  • Must have previous desktop and deskside support experience


  • Linux Server experience (Ubuntu, Red Hat, etc.)

  • Microsoft Server 2008/2012

  • Basic networking troubleshooting

  • Microsoft Windows OS (7, 8, 10 etc.)

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office

  • Microsoft Active Directory/Exchange experience preferred Primary Areas of Responsibility

  • Laptop and Desktop hardware support

  • Desktop OS and Application support, including Microsoft Office and a wide range of third party applications

  • Printer installation and troubleshooting

  • Provide End User training Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 - 4 years' relevant technical support /helpdesk experience

  • A comprehensive understanding of PC software, operating systems, applications and hardware troubleshooting skills

  • Ability to work on assigned IT projects and tasks to further IT objectives

  • Demonstrated skill in documenting project plans as well as communications to various audiences both internal and external to the organization

  • Ability to interact successfully and diplomatically with both internal and external stakeholders
