Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a Manager, HR Operations for the US Oil & Gas and RUST businesses. The position reports to the Sr. Director of Solution Delivery for the Construction Services Business and can be located in any city with an AECOM office. The Manager, HR Operations, leads a team of 3-4 HR generalists for the business group. Responsible for the delivery of HR solutions to managers, employees and HR Leadership within the business with a high level of customer focus and for working with peers to ensure work is shared across groups to ensure full coverage and utilization of team strengths.

Key responsibilities include but not limited to the following:

  • Team leadership:

  • Sets priorities for the team to ensure task completion; coordinates work activities with other supervisors

  • Accountable for the results of medium-sized technical or operations teams

  • Trains team members and completes to employee performance evaluations

  • Works collaboratively with direct reports

  • Decisions are guided by policies, procedures and business plan; receives guidance and oversight from senior leaders

  • Possesses both highly specialized technical expertise or business acumen, and a basic understanding of how to manage and motivate a team

  • Acts as a liaison between the business and HR to ensure that HR services are aligned with internal client needs.

  • Provides research and specialty knowledge support to customers with agreed to service levels.

  • Works with employees, line managers and appropriate HR/legal teams to provide employee relations expertise in navigating ER issues and investigations as appropriate.

  • Provides project management and support for HR projects and program implementations.

  • Works with Centers of Expertise (COEs) & HR leadership to operationalize specific projects/programs and contribute to functional and cross-functional initiatives such as:

  • Performance + Rewards

  • Engagement Survey and Action Plans

  • Compensation Planning

  • Workforce Planning / Hiring

  • Onboarding


  • Diversity Initiatives

  • Exit Surveys

  • Reviews key business performance targets (retention and hiring) and their related talent implications with front-line managers.

  • Assists front-line managers in providing employees with development opportunities that align with current and future performance standards.

  • Facilitates a strong leadership and coaching culture.

  • Works collaboratively with all areas of HR including being aligned with the Strategic Business Unit (SBU), the HR Business Partner and the Centers of Expertise and the Organizational Effectiveness group.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration or demonstrated equivalent.

  • 9 years of diverse experience in all areas of human resources with 3 years in human resources management.

  • Broad knowledge of all areas within human resources.

  • Ability to work in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment

  • Customer service/client focus

  • Ability to build and lead a high performing team

  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships at all levels of the organization

  • Ability to create and implement innovative solutions

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Requirements:

  • PHR or SPHR Certification
