YMCA of Greater Houston Martial Arts/Karate Instr II in Houston, Texas
The YMCA is seeking an energetic, detail-oriented and highly motivated individual for the part- time position of Tae Kwon Do Instructor.
Duties include but not limited to:
Plan classes and tailor them to the skill level of the students. Classes might include teaching new techniques, practicing strikes on pads or heavy bags, sparring, meditation, stretching, conditioning and discussing the history or philosophy of the art. Instructor should be available before and after class to speak with students, answer questions and make sure students are on track to reach their goals. Instructor will also administer exams for students to advance to the next belt level. Maintain inventory of uniforms, belts and other training equipment and gear.
Also, able to carry each task involving: leadership in helping each participating student achieve a high level of skill, an appreciation of discipline and sportsmanship and an increased level of self-esteem.
Other functions: Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness. Follow YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and equipment. Maintain program site, equipment and program records. Attend and participate in program activities, staff meetings and staff trainings. Must have a love for children and embody the 5 core values of the YMCA – Faith, Honesty, Caring, Responsibility and Respect.
1. Required certifications: CPR, First Aid, AED.
2. At least one year of related experience.
3. Current student in Unified Adult Tae Kwon Do and must be a black belt.
