Job Description

Motiva seeks a Crude Financial Trader to join our team in Houston, Texas. The Crude Financial Trader is responsible for evaluating and executing profitable trades on both spot and term basis. In so doing you should have experience to:

  • Manage frontline trading of financial crudes, including basis in and around the US market

  • Maintain close working relationships with the physical trading and Mid-office teams

  • Develop and implement risk strategies

  • Conduct analysis of effectiveness of hedge strategies

  • Identify new market trends

  • Execute hedges for risk strategies

  • Identify and recommend appropriate hedge instruments

  • Validate completeness and accuracy of risk programs

  • Knowledge Management


  • You must have legal authorization to work in the U.S. on a full time basis for anyone other than your current employer

  • Must have a bachelor's degree, MBA preferred

  • Minimum of 3 years crude financial trading experience

  • Experience in trading Global Arbitrage and knowledge of shipping cost requirements within this space

  • Proven track record of successful performance

  • Appetite for taking and managing risk

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to develop successful team and customer relationships

  • Must be well organized and comfortable working in a stressful, demanding, fast-paced and constantly changing working environment

  • Proven quantitative analytical abilities coupled with the ability to produce high quality/accurate work under tight deadlines
