Robert Half Technology Network Security Engineer in Houston, Texas

The Network Engineer is responsible for the technical support of the small to medium sized companies which make up our customer base. Skills for this position include knowledge and experience of security methodology, network components, virtual and physical servers, clustering and high-availability systems, storage solutions, and Exchange servers. The Engineer in this position will work closely with other members of our staff to provide support and services to our customers. Responsibilities of the Network Engineer include:

  • Provide Managed Security Services to customer and assist with administration of security products

  • Review, analyze, consult and evaluate line of business infrastructure needs with our customers

  • Provide consulting and expertise in supporting server, desktop, and voice/data systems and network administration as needed for our customers

  • Repair and recover from hardware or software failures

  • Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning

  • Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required

  • Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required

  • Standardization of customer networks, and alignment with best practice

  • Manage Change in network environments

  • Address issues and problems escalated from level 1 support adhering to SLA policies

  • Administration of Windows Internet Information Services 6.0 and above

  • Administration of SharePoint 2007 and above

  • Administration of Routers, Firewalls, Security Appliances, and Gateways

  • Knowledge of Cisco, WatchGuard, and other firewalls

  • Administration of SQL Server 2005 and above

  • Knowledge and experience with cloud provider technologies such as Azure or Office 365

  • Knowledge of ConnectWise a plus

  • Knowledge of LabTech a plus

  • Knowledge of Tenable Nessus Scanner and other security tools

  • Able to operate in a fast-paced and changing environment

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills as a member of a team

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
