U.S. Physical Therapy Payroll Tax Specialist in Houston, Texas
U S Physical Therapy is currently seeking a Payroll Tax Specialist to join our Corporate Payroll Department in Houston TX. The Payroll Tax Specialist will monitor, prepare and reconcile payroll taxes and coordinate any issues with various taxing authorities. The Payroll Tax Specialist should possess great team skills and have the ability to do detailed research.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare and reconcile payroll tax reporting after each pay run to ensure accurate filings.
Register for State and Unemployment account numbers for new states.
Manage filing of tax updates weekly.
Process all local, state and federal withholding deposits.
Process all monthly, quarterly and annual tax returns.
Submit W-2’s to require taxing agencies.
Process SSI activities, including W2-C’s as needed.
Assist with system maintenance of tax rates.
Prepare and reconcile payroll taxes to the general ledger.
Prepare and reconcile Payroll reports to 941s and W-2s.
Perform special projects and research.
Research and reconcile payroll taxes from prior periods.
Interact with government agencies to represent our organization to resolve complex tax cases.
Gather and report requested date to internal and external recipients.
Perform all other duties as may be required by the needs of the business.

CPP preferred but not required
5 - 10 years of experience with payroll tax filings and compliance issues
5 - 10 years of experience processing multi-state payroll
Working knowledge of payroll best practices
Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations
Strong PC skills including proficiency in Excel
Strong work ethic and a team player
High degree of professionalism
Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material
Strong interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skills
Ability to communicate with various levels of management
Decision-making, problem-solving, and analytical skills
Organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
High School Graduate
Associate or Bachelor Degree a Plus
