Salary range: min-$80,000 mid-$100,000 max-120,000


Manages and administers institutional Physical Plant operations.

Impacts daily operations and uninterrupted service of utilities to institution and/or activities of staff and trades/crafts personnel in designated areas.


Accountable for the safe maintenance and operation; repair and/or replacement of assets and equipment of utility and infrastructure systems to ensure efficiency, productivity and effectiveness. Assures all assigned equipment and systems are reliable, dependable, and operate properly.

Manages a structured Preventive and/or Predictive Maintenance (PM) processes on all infrastructure and utility systems to provide safe operation and reliable utility systems. Assesses and recommends Best Practices for the PM process while assuring regulatory compliance.

Works with and assists internal and external architects and engineers performing periodic Facilities Condition Assessments (FCA) for the development of capital replacement or renewal of assets within the facility to maintain a rolling five (5) year plan.

Leads maintenance teams to achieve desired KPI and performance targets for work order execution and completion.

Manages customer requests, outages, regulatory compliance, and cross divisional collaboration. Assures energy management controls and consumption are maintained within guidelines.

Communicates daily with leadership, staff, customers and clients to assure the completion of all work effort is timely and thorough. Assures the quality of contractor and staff work assignments meet the highest standards through random inspections.

Provides timely and accurate response and support of outages and assures minimal disruption to hospital services.

Assures that all elements of regulatory compliance and documentation under manager’s stewardship are fully compliant at all times.

Maintains inter and intra-departmental relationships to assure timely responsiveness to customer needs and demands. Works closely with other departments concerning hazards, safety, and emergency management and security matters.

Serves or leads on departmental, divisional or institutional committees as assigned.

Adjusts operation and maintenance procedures as needed to support efficient use of energy.

Manages maintenance teams, departmental staff, and administration of contracts through work prioritization, auditing work performance, coaching, counseling, performance evaluations. Develops and implements work flow processes to ensure operational and financial efficiencies.

Effectively schedules work for the front line staff and contractors, manages the shift coverage and workload for assigned personnel. Assures schedule and quality control efforts are compliant. Assures accurate information is posted on Labor & Materials used on work completed on all A and PM work orders.

Develops and manages budget elements, contracts, and overtime in assigned areas to stay within guidelines.

Manages hiring, coaching, counseling, evaluations, promotions and terminations of assigned staff. Completes employee evaluations on time.

Ensure employee compliance with training, certifications/licenses, and goal setting.


Required: Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, business, healthcare administration or related field.


Required: Seven years experience in operations and management of a Physical Plant in a health care, manufacturing, or university setting to include five years of supervisory experience.
