Position Information
Position Summary

The Program Coordinator provides advanced administrative support to the Director of the Graduate Program. S/he serves as secondary contact for inquires. In addition, this position is responsible for the coordination of the graduate program and departmental events including workshops, conference, etc. The Program Coordinator duties include but are not limited to: recruitment coordination, academic program and student support, grant assistance, fiscal support, etc. S/he will also assist the Department Chair, Department Administrator and Department Coordinator in the operation of the Economics Department.

Education Required

HS Diploma or equivalent

Education Preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree.

Description of Job Duty
  • Coordinates all aspects of the graduate program including recruitment, admissions, student support, and academic programs.

  • Graduate Recruitment and Admissions – Promotes the program to prospective students by creating brochures and other program related materials, updating and enhancing the website, and attending recruitment fairs. Works with faculty and / or a graduate recruiting committee to identify and invite prospective students for campus visits. Arranges travel and hotel accommodations, works with faculty and / or committee to develop an itinerary, and coordinates any other aspects of the visit. Coordinates the application review process which includes conducting the initial review of the application, setting up applicant files, updating databases, tracking applicant status. Issues offer and reject letters to applicants. Prepares new student packets. Submits appropriate documents to OISS for incoming international graduate students.

  • Graduate Academic Programs – Monitors changes to curriculum, updates degree requirements, and collaborates with faculty and / or curriculum committee to ensure publications are accurate. Secures and reports grades for all graduate students and all courses. Organizes and maintains graduate student files and databases.

  • Graduate Student Support – Serves as the initial contact and informational resource for all prospective students. Tracks student progress toward degree completion. Monitors student compliance to graduate degree requirements. Provides general assistance to graduate students for candidacy applications, training grants, outside fellowship applications training grant processing, and applications for outside fellowships. Processes all hiring, maintenance and termination paperwork for graduate students. Prepares graduate payroll authorization forms and time sheets.
