Job Summary

Assists with the day to day administrative project management and may provide scientific direction for research projects of considerable scope and complexity.

Assists in the management of day-to-day activities of two HPV vaccination research studies. The research coordinator will assist with the evaluation subcontract with Legacy Community Health Services (CHS) for the project titled Increasing HPV Vaccinations in Harris and Jefferson Counties Using Combined Evidence-Based Approaches.

Additional Summary Specific to Job

  • will coordinate the interaction with Legacy CHS by organizing meetings and related tasks and materials.

  • will assist in the preparation of surveys and interview guides and in preparing IRB submissions of surveys, interview guides, and continuation forms.

  • will conduct in-depth interviews with Legacy staff. He or she will work closely with the UT data manager and the Legacy staff to ensure the appropriate collection and analysis of quantitative data.

  • will coordinate the qualitative data analysis. She or he will be the liaison with Legacy for reporting to the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas.

Additionally, the research coordinator will lead the project Dissemination of an Effective Educational Intervention to Increase HPV Vaccination. Will work with community health centers, community health worker networks, and partners across Texas to increase adoption and implementation of an educational intervention to increase HPV vaccination.

  • will assist in conducting surveys and in-depth interviews with stakeholders across Texas and will assist in training community health workers and clinic staff in implementing the intervention.

-will work closely with the UT data manager to ensure the appropriate collection and analysis of quantitative data. She or he will coordinate the qualitative data analysis. The coordinator will be responsible for regular reporting to the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas. For both projects, the coordinator will assist in paper and presentation preparation, and in grant proposal preparation for continuation.


Assists in development and implementation of research activities including instrument development, conducting interviews, and designing data collection instruments. Provides oversight of research protocols, synthesis and reporting of all research activities. Ensures that CPHS guidelines and approved protocols are followed at all times.

Works closely with clinic staff, community health worker associations, partners, and SPH data manager to ensure accuracy, confidentiality and integrity of data. Assists in management of data collection, evaluation, and interpretation. Data may include de-identified patient data.

Assists with the day-to-day project management activities including coordinating and facilitating project meetings and planning and protocol meetings.

Assists in the preparation of progress and annual reports and grant proposals, to governmental agencies. Prepares IRB submissions and change requests for research projects.

Assists with the preparation of budgets and initiates re-budgeting requests based on needs of research staff. Attends research planning meetings to assist in the preparation of budget drafts for departmental leadership approval. Manages budget to ensure funds are appropriately spent.

Assists in the preparation and writing of manuscripts and conference presentations, including literature reviews and other support and other duties as assigned.

Organizational Requirements

Bachelor's degree or a minimum of four years relevant experience in lieu of degree.

Departmental Requirements/Preferences

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Proficiency in word processing, presentation, and spreadsheet software.

Certification of education on the protection of human research participants must be completed and submitted within 5 days of the effective date of employment.
