The Senior Designer will create mechanical, structural and electrical designs for new product parts, subassemblies, assemblies or system configurations using 3-D CAD Systems (NX), compiling Bills of Materials (SAP).
This role will also help coordinate drafting activities from 3rd party, contract labor companies outside of GE. In this role you will work under moderate supervision.
In the role of Senior Designer you will:
Model, detail, document and verify mechanical, structural, electrical, subassemblies, assemblies or systems
Create 3-D models, depicts relationship of component and parts; identify dimensions, angles, curvatures, tolerances and materials
Prepare Bills of Material and specifications; creates full package documentation required
Ensure quality of drawings according to department standards
Make various calculations and frequently use charts and tables to accommodate the design process
Analyze the effect of proposed changes for proper fit and/or interference problems; recommending possible solutions or alternate construction; modifying drawings as required; may confer with engineers to resolve issues
Prepare Bills of Material relative to design documentation
Propose possible solutions or alternate construction to engineer
Attend educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks
Attend training to enhance skills necessary to progress career
Mentor less experienced Designers (possibly contractors)
Meet any and all deadlines as required by project schedule
Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university (OR Technical Certification and minimum 2 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering (ME), Electrical Engineering (EE) or Computer Aided Design Technology)
Minimum 1 year of experience in drafting and design
Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Proficient using complete Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, etc.), proficient with email system, Microsoft Outlook preferred
Strong creative ability to design and develop mechanical, structural, electrical equipment
Minimum 8 years designing and documenting mechanical, structural, electrical equipment or equivalent combination of education and experience
Expert level of NX and AutoCAD experience
Strong creative ability to design and develop mechanical, structural and electrical equipment
Strong organizational and planning skills
Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills
Experience with gas compression equipment
Working knowledge in compression, powergeneration, automotive, or offshore oil and gas
Familiarity with any of the following tools: NX, Teamcenter, AutoCAD, SAP, WorkFront
