LyondellBasell Industries Senior Infrastructure Applications Support Specialist in Houston, Texas

The primary purpose of this position is to design, implement, administer and maintain selected infrastructure technologies and integrated applications. This specialist works as part of a team of existing staff and complies with company standards and practices.

_ Responsibilities and Accountabilities_

Responsible for developing technology frameworks and standard architectures that enable the design, implementation, operation and support of information technology systems and infrastructure, and that provide functional environments for technology prototyping, development, integrated testing, training, and production. Solicits technical and analytical information internally and externally and serves as a resource for technology analysis.

Responsible for assisting with daily systems support including proactive monitoring, incident and request ticket management, problem resolution and scheduled on call support after regular hours.

Responsible to help manage technology lifecycle programs that ensure consistent and reliable systems and infrastructure.

Accountable to team members and can work in broader groups as needed.

Consults with technology partners to understand the potential impacts of roadmaps and future landscapes, and contributes to Information Technology strategy development and planning.

Responsible, under direct guidance of management and more experienced individuals, for conducting all activities in compliance with Enterprise and Information Technology policies, guidelines, procedures, work processes and internal controls. The purpose of this activity is to ensure Enterprise and Information Technology consistency, reliability, and integrity of performance.

Responsible for proactively initiating personal development activities with management and peers. Prepares for, recognizes, assumes and completes developmental assignments, understanding the need for balance between the needs and interests of both the individual and Enterprise.

_ Qualifications_

This is a senior level position requiring either a degreed professional who possesses a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or similar with a minimum of five (5+) years relevant experience, or a non-degreed professional with seven (7) years relevant experience.

This individual must demonstrate familiarity with and/or technical expertise and knowledge across a broad range of the following technology disciplines: Security, Software Delivery/Packaging, Programming, IT Operations, Servers, Network/Telecommunications, and/or Technical Solutions Architecture.

Technical Expertise and Knowledge:


  • Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) 2012 or higher administration

  • Knowledge of Microsoft System Center Operations Manger (SCOM)

  • Scripting/automation using common languages like Powershell, C#, & Python

  • Microsoft SQL Queries, Reporting and Data Mining

  • Previous experience with large server and application environments.

  • Windows Server operating systems


  • Cloud application support and monitoring

  • Familiarization with Microsoft System Center Orchestrator (SCORCH)

  • Knowledge of networking devices (switches/routers), and protocols

  • Active Directory Domain Support


  • Good interpersonal and communication skills

  • Industry specific certifications a plus (Microsoft, VMWare, Citrix, HP, EMC, ITIL V3)

  • Can independently bring assignments to satisfactory completion in a timely manner

  • Critical Thinking - can resolve complex issues and formulate solutions regarding systems operations

  • Develops architecture and standards for implementation and support of complex systems

  • Can analyze and evaluate information systems operations and provide expert technical direction and recommendations to improve operations and utilization

  • Ability to produce documentation for process, procedures or analysis

  • Experience implementing and supporting Microsoft management technologies

  • Has a commitment to follow standards

  • Ability to work within a structured change management environment
