The purpose of the Sr Technical Writer is to perform a variety of writing and editing tasks. This position will assist principal investigators (PIs) to write and edit scientific manuscripts for publication, grant applications for submission, research and clinical protocols and grant progress reports.


Scientific Writing and Editing

This includes drafting scientific reports for the faculty supervisor based on clinical and/or laboratory results. Ability to compose scientific summaries and reviews and proven ability in writing and submission process for scientific grants and journal manuscripts. Participates in the planning and production of grant applications and scientific reports of all types. Coordinates with other research and administrative staff to meet submission deadlines

Knowledgeable of Team Science

Stays abreast of research projects that his team is involved in, as well as new developments in the field. This includes attending lab meetings and other meetings called by team leadership, as well as other scientific meetings.

Team Leadership Presentations

Assists the team leaders in organizing their presentations in PowerPoint and other computer applications.

Other duties as assigned.

Onsite presence is not required.


Required: Bachelor's degree in a related field.

Preferred: Master’s degree in a related field.


Required: Four years experience in communications, writing and editing technical/scientific material in a medical, academic or research setting. With preferred degree, two years of required experience.

Preferred: Editor in the Life Sciences (ELS), Certification or Advanced Certification through the American Medical Writer’s Association (AMWA)
