The Principal Network Technologist will be primarily responsible for the design, operation, and support of the Enterprise WAN & LAN, Field SCADA networks, Unified Communications, and Enterprise Wireless. In addition, the incumbent will assist in supporting

our perimeter security systems, including firewall, IDS/IPS, and content filtering. Areas of responsibility extend from our headquarters, data center, and Disaster Recovery site to remote offices and field operating areas.


  • Operate and maintain the Enterprise Wired and Wireless Networks through hands-on network device configuration and troubleshooting as well as by providing remote assistance for field technicians.

  • Operate and maintain the Enterprise Unified Communications System (IPT, Voicemail, Videoconferencing, and Messaging).

  • Maintain a secure network by assisting with firewall rule implementation, access lists, and security incident response.

  • Participate in an on-call rotation.

  • Be required to travel when needed – domestic travel only, no more than 5%.


  • Demonstrate initiative and a forward-looking mindset by actively advising on new technologies, standards, requirements, and threats.

  • Fully accountable for timeliness, completeness, and quality of projects, processes, and deliverables.

  • Participate in the development and implementation of network design standards by following technology best practices and sound engineering principles.

  • Form strong working relationships across the organization and use those informal networks to gain support for ideas/projects and to get work done.

  • Aid in the development of less experienced team members through collaborative project work, knowledge sharing, and assistance with higher level support issues.

  • Able to effectively convey difficult or complex information using a wide range of communication styles to suit different situations and audiences.



  • 10 years of relevant experience OR a Bachelor’s degree plus 6+ years of experience in Networking and/or Telecommunications

  • CCNP or CCIE certification strongly recommended

  • In-depth knowledge and experience with Cisco Routers, Nexus and Catalyst Switches, Wireless LAN Controllers, and WAPs.

  • In-depth knowledge and experience with Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Unity Voicemail, Jabber, and Contact Center.

  • In-depth knowledge and experience with BGP, EIGRP, QoS, VoIP, VLAN, Multicast, SSL, IPSec, and GRE.

  • Some experience with network security equipment and technologies (Next-gen firewalls; VPN appliances; Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems).

  • Experience with WAN Optimization appliances a plus

  • Demonstrated success in a technical lead role for multiple large IT projects.
