Under general direction, applies theories, principles and practices to the research and development of new and improved products, processes and procedures within the Wireline Electromagnetic Technology group. Performs routine research and experimentation at the direction of Senior Scientists and Team Leaders. Documents progress in laboratory notebooks, reports, procedures and designs. Occasionally communicates with Technical Client Personnel. Responds as directed by Senior Scientist and Team Leaders to meet customers’ needs. Participates in Professional Societies. When correctly performed, job tasks impact indirectly on cost containment, efficiency, profitability or operations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Applies theories, principles and practices to the research and development of new and improved products, processes and procedures.

  • Performs research and experimentation at the general direction of Principal Scientists, Scientific Advisors and Team Leaders.

  • Independently evaluates, selects, and applies standard scientific techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making significant adaptations and modifications.

  • Devises new approaches to problems encountered.

  • Plans, schedules and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of scientific techniques, procedures, and criteria.

  • Document progress in laboratory notebooks, reports, patent disclosures and Technical papers.

  • Communicates well with Technical Client Personnel.

  • Participates in and contributes to Professional Societies.

  • Complies with HSE and Service Quality requirements.

  • Incorporates Reliability and project management techniques in all job processes.

Job Requirements:

  • Completion of a PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or similar discipline.

  • PhD research area must be focused on Electromagnetics OR 2+ years equivalent work experience with electromagnetics.

  • Experience with modeling of induction type electromagnetic sensors.

  • Good working knowledge of MATLAB.

  • Familiarity with Fortran.
