Role synopsis:

The VP NGL Strategic Origination focuses on long term “game changing” business development efforts for BP’s Americas NGL business. This individual will initiate and negotiate a range of complex and long-dated strategic transactions to support BP’s Global NGL business strategies and growth agenda. These efforts are generally described as more complex, longer term transactions that may also require capital structuring expertise. These opportunities will focus heavily on an industry in transition with shale driven oversupply, asset underutilization across parts of the value chain, and new market entrants seeking NGL supplies to support exports and new North America based petrochemical projects.

Key accountabilities: The VP NGL Strategic Origination has the following responsibilities: 1) Material expansion of the existing NGL customer and asset web, 2) Deliver Strategic Origination financial performance targets through new and innovative deals such as alliances, acquisitions, game changing NGLs transactions, focusing on high value deals, 3) Lead commercial efforts in close coordination with BP’s Structured Products team and other commodity teams focused on MLP’s and Private Equity entities deploying capital into the E&P, midstream, refining and petrochemical segments with a focus on building long term strategic commercial relationships, 4) Closely coordinate and communicate with the members of NGL and other commodity leadership teams as needed.

The VP NGL Strategic Origination does not have any direct reports, and will collaborate with the origination and trading teams to perform its responsibilities.

Essential Education: Undergraduate degree required

Essential experience and job requirements:

  • Extensive experience in origination/marketing with a broad experience in the E&P/Midstream segments,

  • Knowledge of North American NGL infrastructure and a robust network of contacts along the NGL supply chain,

  • Negotiation and complex deal structuring skills,

  • Expertise in transactional economics, deal and risk valuation,

  • Interpersonal skills and comfort interacting with CEO/COO/CFO level individuals.

Desirable criteria and qualifications: Experience originating for a trading business.
