General Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in related field. Two years relevant administrative assistant experience or experience in a related field. Experience in Higher Education is desirable. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.

Nature & Purpose of Position/Usual Duties:

Performs administrative support duties for the Office of the Dean for the College of Fine Arts & Mass Communication.

Primary Responsibilities (Staff Positions Only):

Provides advanced assistance in development of operational policies. Interprets policies and explains procedures relating to activities performed in the department/division. Prepares reports and maintains adequate records. Handles standard and department specific correspondence. Performs specialized tasks requiring a high level of skill with modern office machines and preparation of reports. Assists in compiling statistical data and preparing various written summaries concerning divisional/department activities. Acts as liaison between administrator and staff in handling of matters which may involve policy decisions. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Other Specifications/Instructions for the Position:

Contact with other University departments, students, local vendors, and off‑campus agencies. Reviews internal procedures and recommends needed changes. Ability to type as specified when required by the employing department/office/division.
