General Requirements:

Associates Degree in related field. Three years of related experience. Experience in Excel and Microsoft Word is desirable. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.

Nature & Purpose of Position/Usual Duties:

Performs advanced specialist duties for the Registrar’s Office. Provides direct support services to students, the campus community, alumni, and the public.

Primary Responsibilities (Staff Positions Only):

Performs daily processing of degree applications, maintains individual student degree plans by processing requested substitutions to the student plans using Degree Works, and processes changes to student curriculum in our Banner student information system. Evaluates degree plans from Degree Works against the transcript/academic record for degree candidates. Communicates evaluation results to students and campus staff including academic chairs and deans. Verifies degree candidate names for the commencement program, verifies graduation honors, printing degree candidate seating cards, and verifies the honors recognized at commencement for each student within assigned academic college. Prints diplomas for each graduating class and prepares diplomas for mailing. Provides detailed academic evaluations to academic departments and degree candidates within one academic college as part of responsibilities associated with university functions assigned to the Registrar’s Office. Attends all commencement ceremonies. Calculates cumulative grade point averages and grade point deficiencies for majors and minors. Serves as the liaison between academic advisors, administrators and technical staff to translate and convey degree and student record information between different groups, as well as troubleshooting problems. Serves the academic advisors with communication of violations to state core substitutions and will lead the process in Banner for these substitutions. Develops timelines for mass communications and leads the communication to students and academic departments regarding commencement information, and student graduation requirements. Determines eligibility for tuition rebates, and Be-On-Time loan forgiveness eligibility at the point of degree awarding. Provides complex, analytical, and detailed academic evaluations to academic departments and degree candidates. Works with the Assistant Registrar targeting duties associated with the Degree Works software, and performs Registrar-related tasks, including reports and assisting with procedures related to degree evaluations, as well as commencement ceremonies. Leads the evaluation process for the Specialist I Degree Evaluator positions providing assistance and training as necessary. Processes grade changes, determines academic standing, corrects academic records, and scans reports and pertinent student documents including email communications, enrollment, and degree verifications. Assists students, former students, faculty, and staff with requests for information. Provides the university community with Texas Success Initiative (TSI) information and support. Performs other related duties as assigned.
