Applications Development Group Manager

This position is responsible for leading a talented group of Business Analysts, technology designers and developers to Design, Develop, Deploy and Support a Customer Management Repository Product in NAM region.


This Position with GPD-ESB & Events Platform Group in US is responsible for Requirements Gathering, Solutioning, Design, Development, Implementation and Post-Implementation Support of Customer Management Repository Product for Global Consumer Bank in NAM Region.

Skills and work activities that support these responsibilities include:

  • Manage a team of highly motivated business analysts, designers and developers drawn from our strategic partners and Citi staff based in multiple geographical locations

  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple workstreams

  • Develop and implement best-in-class processes, metrics and practices

  • Manage and track resources, review works to ensure high quality job to achieve customer satisfaction and service commitments

  • Ensure that the team is defining and implementing systems that are aligned with the organization strategy and goals

  • Work closely with cross product architecture team and work towards alignment of the applications to Citi's target technology platforms

  • Manage strategic technology partners when developing small pilots before implementing full solution build out; work to determine whether it is feasible to build capabilities in-house or seek external specialization

  • Manage partnership with business and external strategic vendors

  • Establish and build global relationships and partnerships across business, technology and operational lines

  • Engage in innovative problem solving activities, requiring conceptual thinking as they will be responsible for creating 'out of the box' solutions with prototypes and pilots; certain proposals will involve extensive involvement in all phases - cost & benefit analysis of in-house vs outsourcing, timeline, expenses associated to initial outlay, cost of customization and cost to run and speed to market

  • Provide leadership, development opportunities, performance management, development and succession-planning, staff communications, and positive interactive working environment to ensure the highest productivity and employee engagement

  • Collaborate with senior management on cross-functional areas and other programs, as appropriate

  • Identify and drive resolution of issues including those outside established programs of work

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure program scope definition meets business objectives

  • Manage the identification of risks which impact program delivery and ensure mitigation strategies are developed and executed when necessary


Qualifications and Key required competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education

  • Minimum of 12+ years of relevant experience preferably within an international technology organization in delivering complex projects

  • Demonstrated experience in Project Management principles and software development lifecycle practices and methodology

  • Hands-on knowledge of project management practices, principles and tool sets

  • Deep understanding on the process and roles in Agile development, Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery

  • Prior Experience of Delivering high quality strategic large scale projects/releases

  • Experience running a large scale application development team

  • Ability to manage senior staff, as well as manage staff working remotely across multiple locations

  • Strong leadership, communication and organizational skills

  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking and communication skills - must have ability to synthesize, develop and present clear and concise recommendations

  • Excellent relationship management skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work across organizational boundaries and geographies

  • Self-directed, motivated and managed; ability to deal with imperfect information, decision and drive to successful conclusions

·Thorough understanding of the financial services industry preferably consumer banking domain with specific exposure to customer information management and customer engagement
