The Compliance Testing Data Mining Group (“DMG”) is at the forefront of addressing potential regulatory and compliance risks globally across Citi Global Anti-Money Laundering (“AML”), Institutional Client Groups (“ICG”), and Consumer Compliance Testing programs. The group focuses on providing Forensic Data Mining and System & Data Assurance capabilities by using an Integrated Operating Model of developing analytics, building data visualizations, automating test steps and continuous monitoring functions.
The Compliance Data Mining Officer will be responsible for planning, scoping, developing and delivering analytics that support the Global testing of regulatory compliance as it relates to Citi policies. As part of Compliance Testing, the candidate will work with business teams, compliance officers, and technology in order to understand various regulations, policies and processes, and the supporting data and systems to investigate, explore, and address business problems that pose the most risk to the organization.
The ideal candidate will have a depth of experience with large scale numerical and/or textual data analysis (Python, R, SAS, SQL), familiarity with Hadoop and related tools (Hive, Hue, MapReduce, Impala, Spark) and exhibit data visualization skills (Qlikview, Microstrategy, D3.js) This position will require someone that is comfortable taking initiative and developing innovative strategies to solve complex problems. The candidate should demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills and be comfortable leading others. Experience working and leading small, fast-paced teams is preferred.
Key responsibilities include:
Design and implement data analytics as part of an effective Compliance Testing program
Coordinate with business, compliance officers and technology from the identification of the testing target through delivery of the analytic.
Articulate technical thoughts and ideas to a larger audience while influencing skills with peers
Translate the testing requirements into models/analytics using various data analytic and visualization tools.
Work with team members to translate the results from the analytics into impact on AML and regulatory/compliance risks for senior management.
Effectively perform quality control over the work of others.
Bachelor’s Degree required in any of the following: Finance, Information Systems, Computer Science, and Engineering (open to system, computer, industrial, electrical etc.), Accounting, Finance, and Economics.
Master’s degree preferred in any of the following: Business Administration, Business Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering, IS, Mathematics and Statistics.
5+ years of database or data analysis skills in the Financial Services or related industry.
Excellent data analytic skills using SQL, T-SQL, or PL/SQL (SQL Server or Oracle).
Experience with data visualization such as Qlikview and/or Microstrategy.
Experience with Python/R/SAS is preferred, but not required.
Excellent verbal skills, both written and oral.
Proven ability to quickly assimilate and organize large amounts of new information and produce professional products (using Microsoft Outlook tools).
Proven ability to identify possible exceptions based on key risk indicators.
Proven ability to understand and document results, including the use of trend analysis.
Controls, Assurance/audit, or compliance knowledge is preferred.
Identify requirements from regulatory and senior management sources.
Create and maintain dashboards to periodically report on key risk, performance and compliance indicators.
Additional background in compliance, programming, or assurance/audit related fields is preferred, but not required.
