This manager-level position is responsible for people management and sales enablement. May also be responsible for project oversight of staff augmentation projects.

Ensures that operational policies are followed and that business objectives are achieved by focusing on best practices and process improvements. Responsible for operational metrics and business results for assigned area of responsibility. Typically manages individual contributors and/or entry-level managers. Monitors consultant activities and performance on projects (e.g. read status reports, respond to staffing and availability issues, pro-actively seek out project performance reviews, etc.). May serve as project advisor for moderately complex engagements.

8 years of experience relevant to this position including 4 years of consulting experience. Management experience preferred. Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience. Product, technology or industry expertise relevant to the practice focus. Ability to travel as needed.

Consulting Delivery Manager | Technical Architecture for Utilities Global Business Unit (UGBU)

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Consulting Delivery Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading, developing and growing a part of the infrastructure technology practice for Oracle Utilities, providing technical expertise on Oracle's Customer Care & Billing, Meter Data Management, Smart Grid Gateway, Network Management System, Analytics, Customer Self Service and Mobile Workforce Management systems.

In addition, the candidate will provide hands-on day-to-day support across multiple projects on delivery issues, and provide extensive support to consulting sales activity.

Essential Job Functions:

Maintain a personal utilisation level by providing hands-on day-to-day support on existing projects

Manage a practice of around 7 technical consultants

Provide support for the consulting sales team on bids and proposals: work with bid teams to provide product and implementation-related expertise

Coordinating assignments of consultants in liaison with the UGBU Operations team

Ensuring the practice has the capacity for current and future project demands.

Close management of the practice utilisation figures, and achievement of agreed targets.

Bench Management: ensuring the bench is at a minimum, and that consultants on the bench are utilised effectively (internal projects, training...)

Recruitment: Identify hiring needs, create job specs and work with Oracle recruitment to ensure growth and future capacity

Capability: Ensure the practice is positioned to deliver according to current and future needs through growth, training, development and liaison with Product Management

Training: Lead the identification, development and roll out of training for the practice

Development: Establish Personal Development Plans and training schedules for all consultants lead coaching and mentoring activities, ensure new recruits are quickly integrated into the practice.

Manage the performance of the practice through the setting and monitoring of team and individual performance objectives. Identify need, initiate and manage Personal Improvement Plans where necessary.

Lead the Appraisal process for consultants in the practice

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be a skilled consultant with experience on several Oracle Utility projects, along with demonstrable management experience. As our projects range globally, the successful candidate will be required to travel extensively and for significant proportions of any engagement, primarily across the US, but not limited to.

The ideal candidate will:

Have a good understanding of the Oracle Utilities product technical components (Database, Weblogic, OUAF, OBIEE, SOA, Webcenter, Java, OS)

Possess excellent analytical, communication and presentation skills

Have high levels of organisation, determination and focus

Have 8 years of experience relevant to this position including 4 years of consulting experience and 2 years of project management leadership experience

Travel: Yes, 75 % of the Time

Location: Anywhere in the United States will be remote based when not traveling
