Verizon Lead SDN NFV Architect in Irving, Texas
You’ll be working with a team of internal developers, multiple suppliers and network planning organization to define and test networking solutions integrated with OSS platforms. In this role you will need to know how to work with virtualized network functions, SDN controllers and OpenFlow, and also how to manage the interaction with applications and orchestration systems that connect via northbound application programming interfaces (APIs).
Responsible for network architecture frameworks and deployments required to bring NFV functions to market. Communicate product requirements of managed services, cloud and customer premise platforms and ensuring platforms support product launch requirements including business case variables such as locations, capability, interconnections, methodology for slotting VMs etc.
Responsible for selection and hands on testing of virtualized applications, creating reference architectures, in-depth understanding of partner VNF managers, preparing customer facing technical diagrams, leading demos, leading beta trials, integrating with orchestration, conducting market research, monitoring competitive activity, identifying customer needs, product strategy and forecasting
Strong Architectural Leadership (applications, virtualization, security, network) and SDN/NFV experience, preferably a blend of wireless and wireline technologies.
Understanding of standard routing protocols like BGP, OSPF, ISIS and relationship to OpenFlow
Results focused individual with proven business and technical acumen.
Experience in SDN, NFV, OpenStack, Docker, Containers deployments as well as the FCAPS model to support Service level orchestration and assurance
Experience developing virtualized application integration frameworks both in cloud and in x86 based hardware.
In-depth working knowledge of the 4G Evolved Packet System architecture to be able to determine impact changes on part of the network can have on the rest.
Working knowledge of the standards (3GPP, 3GPP2, IETF, GSMA, etc.) specifications
Hands on knowledge and Subject Matter Expertise in IP networking, Application traffic flows, and Security best practices
Substantial hands on experience in Application Virtualization within a service provider network
Ability to create customer facing network topologies, demos and lead customer proof of concept testing.
OpenStack working knowledge.
Ability to create customer facing operational support systems for virtualized applications.
Technical knowledge of supporting network and cloud platforms.
Technical knowledge of wireline/wireless transport, cloud solutions models services, and analytics.
Network fundamentals including routing protocols and Ethernet access technologies.
Understanding of overall network architecture and design application for delivery of other product segments.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for effective analytical insights and meaningful communication to peer groups and executives.
Well-developed written and oral communication skills.
Integrative and adaptive personality enjoying working in a collaborative environment.
Time management skills – must be self-motivated and able to prioritize work related to business requirements.
Understanding of agile methodologies.
