Oversees other direct care staff activities associated with the implementation and management of a therapeutic adolescent environment including: life space interviewing, therapeutic community group sessions, crisis intervention, problem solving interviews and group meetings and activities for daily living. Provides support and supervision for leisure and recreational activities. Responsible for maintaining a safe, structured, therapeutic milieu in conformity with the Krause Adolescent Treatment Programs. Monitors and Oversees direct care staff’s adherence to administrative and programmatic policies and procedures. Assists in the coordination between the milieu and other disciplines.
Oversees Direct Care staff in the execution of their assigned duties and adherence to administrative and programmatic policies and procedures as directed by Residential Program Manager. Reports performance concerns and/or problems to Residential Program Manager.
Responsible for ensuring proper coverage, at all times, on teams and communicating any needs or issues immediately to the Residential Program Manager.
Oversees residents on the units (including school, activities, etc.) and off the units (recreational activities, field trips, outings, etc.) to ensure integrity of milieu.
Monitors and participates in programmatic activities and outdoor recreation to ensure consistent application of programmatic consequences with residents by direct care staff.
Maintains a safe, therapeutic environment through vigilant monitoring for dangerous situations and contraband.
Ensures that all precautions, restrictions and other safety interventions are being properly implemented on all teams during assigned shift.
Serves as a positive role model for residents and direct care staff and demonstrates proper professionalism good judgment and emotional stability in dealing with staff, residents, and the public at all times.
Ensures the daily shift progress notes are entered into the medical record in a timely and professional manner by those responsible for each shift.
Verifies that all documentation is completed by staff including but not limited to progress notes, occurrence reports, communication logs, personal restraint records, precaution documentation, etc.
Ensures proper implementation of clinical interventions and strategies initiated by the Treatment Team and/or Residential Program Manager.
Assists in the administration of medication when required after being properly trained and certified to do so.
Assures consistency in dealing in a tactful and harmonious fashion with staff, residents, and the public and to adhere to and follow all residents’ policies and procedures as designated and defined by the C.E.O. of the Center.
Consistently exercises sound, independent judgment and adequate emotional stability in evaluating situations and making decisions despite the pressures of deadlines or the occurrence of unexpected stressful events.
Participate on committees and in professional meetings and staffing’s as necessary to the function of the program.
Perform other duties as directed.
Bachelor’s Degree in one of the behavioral sciences or related field preferred or equivalent experience in similar setting and position.
Must demonstrate through prior work experience competency in consistently exercising professional judgment and discretion in the execution and implementation of milieu management techniques and methodologies.
Must be a senior direct care staff reflecting a minimum of one year experience as a direct care staff at Krause Children’s Center.
Possess a current certificate for cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid.
Must have completed the Krause Children’s Center milieu module training and certification course.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and have an excellent driving record.
Shift/Hours: 1st Shift, 2nd Shift, Various
