DutiesMajor Duties

This position is located in the Mid-South Consolidated Patient Account Center (MSCPAC) in the organization of the Chief Operating Officer, serving as a Program Support Assistant, in a satellite office at San Antonio or Kerrville, Texas. The MSCPAC is a regionally consolidated business entity established to enhance healthcare revenue operations throughout the Veterans Health Administration network by standardization and consolidation of functions as the integration of VHA and industry best practices.

Duties include the following:

• Reviewing first party receivables.

• Collecting, compiling and/or tracking of data and program information in support of revenue.

• Preparing, executing and/or tracking revenue program specific information.

• Organizing and retrieving computerized data, generating reports of data, reviewing data for inconsistencies and referring to appropriate area for completion.

• Entering information into tracking system and maintaining accurate program specific data for maximum reimbursement.

• Conducting proactive accounts receivable follow up and analysis on various account receivables.

• Responsible for the coordination of billing of worker's compensation or tort cases.

• Providing patient education and assistance concerning Medical Care Cost Fund Program.

• Providing answers to customer service inquiries regarding accounts receivable, means and co-payment testing and health insurance related issues

TIME-IN-GRADE RESTRICTION GS-07: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade position any time within the past 52 weeks must meet the time-in-grade requirements (a minimum of 52 weeks in positions no lower than GS-06).

Specialized Experience GS-07 level: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-06) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience include:

1- Gathering computerized data from several sources using specific analysis techniques, and suggests actions to correct any deficiencies.

2- Maintaining patient access, compliance, and financial reports.

3- Reviews first party receivables ensuring applicable copays for non-automated copayment activities are billed.

4- Handling conflicts and problems, dealing with customers constructively and appropriately.

5- Has been successful at working independently in a fast paced work environment experiencing disruptions and conflicting priorities.
