Within Microsoft Services Secure Infrastructure Global Domain, the Secure Infrastructure Solution Architecture Office (SAO) is a team of architects responsible for delivery excellence, methodology, estimation and lifecycle tools, intellectual property (IP) in support of delivery, field readiness compliance, communities, pre-sales support for incubation pre-sales and solution innovation for the Secure Infrastructure domain. Our goal is to support and enable the consulting and support teams in the field to sell and deliver with predictability, repeatability, consistency and quality across the time zones while driving IP reuse and leverage of best practices.
Solution Architect for Solution Architect Office
As Solution Architect in the SAO, you will be responsible for driving the delivery excellence, community and readiness support functions for your assigned time zone. You will serve as a SME for your time zone driving best practices, sharing lessons learned and driving predictability, repeatability, consistency and quality. This includes:
o Supporting and advising engagement teams to follow a consistent methodology
o Monitoring engagements for methodology compliance and working with the engagement teams to take corrective action where necessary
o Supporting engagement teams on initiation and planning of engagements including the correct set up of metrics and measurements for project control and risk management
o Working with pre-sales teams to ensure consistent use of the One Services Estimator (OSE) and working with the OSE Architects on the Delivery Excellence team to drive enhancements and resolve tool issues
o Working with Services Business Desk (SBD), WW Delivery Excellence Office, WW OCTO and the Time Zone Delivery Managers to provide solution and methodology expertise on Project Quality Assurance Reviews (PQR) and Technical Quality Assurance (TQA) Reviews
o Participating in/Leading project recovery for troubled projects as needed from a methodology and solution perspective
Community and Readiness
o Lead the Domain Community for your time zone driving participation and knowledge sharing, reviewing content and evaluating delivery IP
o Drive community interaction and relevance
o Work with Services University to provide input into the Readiness Strategy while working with the TDMs in the time zones to develop learning plans by role and driving readiness completion and continuous improvement
o Assist the domain Timezones in planning for future readiness needs and supporting the execution and rollout of readiness initiatives
o Supporting the pipeline acceleration of key deals across MSP from 0-80% where appropriate
o Identifying, harvesting, and reusing patterns and presales IP
o Partnering with PA and SSSP teams to share best practices and drive continuous improvement of our presales motion and value proposition
o Fostering the adoption and reuse of high quality delivery IP
o Identifying gaps and best practices WW in a programmatic fashion
o Partnering with PA, PG, and cross-domain stakeholders to define future delivery IP requirements and assist in the governance, creation, and adoption of appropriate artefacts on an ongoing basis
¨ 12-15 years of professional experience in information technology consulting and technology implementation
¨ Deep expertise with selling and implementing Secure Infrastructure solutions
¨ Strong track record of collaboration and working on matrixed teams
¨ Solid understanding of MSF and Agile methodologies, with full delivery lifecycle experience from pre-sales to support/operations on complex projects
¨ Demonstrated track record of effective communication with technical and business leaders at all levels within large enterprises and within Microsoft Business Groups, Partner Groups and Sales organizations
¨ Demonstrated track record of ability to support and influence teams for positive results and improvements
¨ Proven ability to transfer industry and market knowledge gained from customer engagements to account teams and other Microsoft constituencies
¨ Experience with executing plans with field sales organizations
¨ Global experience across several markets preferred; specific experience in applicable time zone a must-have
¨ Relevant undergraduate degree and /or equivalent work experience. Master’s Degree preferred.
¨ Travel requirement for this position is approximately 30% and is an integral expectation of this position as the needs of our customers and our business demand.
¨ Location - role will be based in any subsidiary where Microsoft does business, with close proximity to a major international airport
