Microsoft Corporation Premier Field Engineer - Office Core Client in Las Colinas, Texas

Microsoft's Business Productivity team is looking for an experienced Premier Field Engineer to drive customer satisfaction, deployment, adoption and support of Microsoft Office, including Office 365 and its Click-to-Run deployments. The Premier Field Engineer acts as the primary onsite technical contact, trusted advisor role, providing customer visibility, advanced technical support and problem resolution for corporate customers, including issues escalated to the highest levels of management.

This role will assist in driving deployment planning discussions and implementations for several Fortune 500 customers in all US regions. The primary product focus and responsibility will pertain to support (and level 100-300 end-user training) of Microsoft Office Core client (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, OneNote) as well as planning, setup, configuration and deployment of the Microsoft Office Client including Office MSI/Windows Installer to Office 365 Click-to-Run deployment types.

Need to be able to travel [US travel] up to 50%, including overnight travel.

The ideal candidate will have a strong aptitude with the ability to lead in-depth technology discussions, articulating the business value of Microsoft Office and Office 365 Click-to-Run technologies and advising customers on the best practice guidance on migration, upgrade, compatibility, and deployment methodologies. This individual must be able to drive support-consulting engagements, deliver end-user training of Office new features and productivity scenarios to potentially large groups, write technical communications and work effectively with our partners and customers to help make their deployment projects successful. This individual must also be able to listen for and recognize scenarios where the customer needs may require complementary solutions and be able to partner with Enterprise Services and Sales to drive successful customer outcomes.

Key Experience needed:

•Experience focusing on large or complex Office deployment projects requiring creative and complex solutions.

•The ability to lead all aspects of the technical discussion by facilitating the customer's understanding of the product / solution through presentations, speaking to large groups, demonstrations, proof of concepts, deployments and troubleshooting and support.

•Demonstrated support throughout the product life cycle and developed / managed references through high quality technical and professional client and stakeholder relationships ensuring customer satisfaction.

•Primarily Office Core client apps like Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, OneNote; as well as awareness of OneDrive for Business, Skype for Business integration with Office

•Proven understanding of Windows Installer/MSI and Click-to-Run technologies

•Experience as a resourceful problem-solver, leveraging internal partner resources in assigned customers leveraging PFE/CSS/CTS, Premier, EPG, and MCS when required.

•Primary responsibilities include:

•Provide on-site & remote (phone-advisory) technical solutions to complex Microsoft Office deployment projects

•Develop and implement strategies for providing facilitative support resulting in fewer incidents, increased availability, or accelerated deployments

•The successful candidate will be capable of providing field technical support presence for groups in the Microsoft Services organization, including but not limited to Premier Support, Microsoft Consulting Services, and CSS.

•Engage in advanced technical troubleshooting.

•Use of Office Deployment Tool and Office Customization Tool.

•Modifying of XML text files and understanding XML syntaxes.

•Practical experience troubleshooting application performance problems.

•Offer exceptional customer service through an ability to manage challenging technical issues by setting customer expectations, devising and implementing action plans.

•Ability to manage customer escalations/sub-cases and work under pressure.

•Exhibit deep technical familiarity with Microsoft Office Core client programs and deployment technologies.

•Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communications, analytical and presentation skills. Experience delivering and/or authoring technical training.

•Ability to deliver presentations and discuss an array of Microsoft Office new features and advanced topics, troubleshooting, deployment and configuration considerations, Outlook calendaring best practices and other trending Microsoft Office client issues.

•Ensure timely and high quality resolution of all issues.

•Capabilities to operate in a flexible team environment with minimal supervision.

•Develop relationships with technical directors or lead architects for the technology you support resulting in more participation in planning and improved satisfaction in support assistance and/or support consulting.

Preferred experience:

•Microsoft Office versions 2007, 2010, 2013, 2016, both MSI and Click-to-Run

•VBA/Macro/Office-Dev experience

•Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager, WSUS, Software Center

•Application Model vs. Package Model

•Management Points and Distribution Points

•Ability to run/use/process PowerShell scripts

•Identity Management (Cloud, Synced, Federated Identities)Azure Active Directory Synchronization Tool (DirSync)Knowledge of Group Policy Management


5+ years of relevant work experience

•MCSE Certifications is a plus.
