Hands-on engineer responsible for supporting the day to day operation, configuration, setup and installation of all networking facets in all of our facilities. The network engineer will strive to deliver excellent customer service with quick resolutions. This is an Exempt position.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS)

  • Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations

  • Provides 2nd level on-call technical support

  • Travel to facilities to setup and support

  • Ensures connectivity of all workstations, phones and server systems

  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all implemented networks

  • Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability

  • Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning

  • Projects as assigned

  • Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure

  • Adept at reading, writing and interpreting technical documentation and procedure manuals

  • Work with other teams to support the launch of new projects

  • Assist as needed to manage server and storage infrastructure, including pro-active maintenance, updates/grades, backups, log-review and other tasks

  • Mentor/train/assist other staff as needed and as requested

  • Other tasks as assigned

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in the field of Computer Science preferred

• CCNA, CCNP or related certificate

• Solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model

• Minimum of 3 years of networking experience

• Experience troubleshooting Network layer 2 and layer 3

• WiFi implementation, administration, security, and support

• Strong knowledge of LAN/WAN/iSCSI administration

• Basic low-voltage cabling knowledge, including support/troubleshooting of cat5e and cat6

• Demonstrated ability to conduct research on network issues as required

• Demonstrated ability to present ideas and solutions in user-friendly language

• Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws

• Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

• On-call availability

• Windows desktop and server operating systems (win7, remote desktop services, server 2008/2012)

• VMware ESXi experience including installation, setup and troubleshooting
