This position serves as a lead-worker of a shift and provides direction to the Therapeutic Security Technicians (TSTs). Trains and provides assistance with the resident programs. Assists in facility operations as part of the overall plan of care based on the standards, policies, and procedures of TCCC.



  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Some college coursework preferred.


  • One (1) year direct care experience in a SVP program, forensic, correctional, mental health or hospital setting preferred .

  • Ability to observe resident behavior and ability to report unusual occurrences.

  • Ability to accurately convey observations in writing in various reports.


  • None required


  • Performs lead-worker duties including oversight of other TSTs. posted with various work assignments.

  • Meets with, Shift Supervisor, Captain (Shift Capt.) at the beginning of shift to report the status of unit and any uncompleted tasks.

  • Reviews status of residents on the unit and ensures that all assignments are covered and completed on time.

  • Oversees TSTs daily responsibilities.

  • Ensures that all log entries are completed properly.

  • Completes daily rounds on each housing unit.

  • Assists and oversees facility counts.

  • Conducts safety and sanitation reviews as needed.

  • Coaches, mentors, and provides orientation to new TSTs.

  • Trains and provides assistance with the resident programs as directed.

  • Ensures that various procedures and policies are followed, including that the constant observation precautions are conducted appropriately, and documented accordingly.

  • Ensures that units are sanitary, common and laundry areas are clean, resident property is properly stored and organized.

  • Ensures resident rooms are searched for contraband in line with the facility procedures.

  • Basicunderstanding of the organization’s mission, vision and values and how these guide practice.

  • Cultural Competency - Is sensitive to cultural diversity issues, treats residents as an individual, and considers the culture of the resident when providing care and treatment.

  • Any other duties as assigned.
