Texas Tech University Assistant Professor of Theatre in Directing in Lubbock, Texas
Contributes to the university’s mission through teaching, research and service, some variation by academic unit.
Primary responsibilities are teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in directing for the stage. A secondary teaching emphasis in an area such as acting would be advantageous, as would certification in a movement methodology and/or stage combat and membership in SDC. The successful candidate will direct in the school's production season.
The successful candidate must demonstrate strong teaching ability and a record of successful creative endeavors and/or research activities. A desire to promote a diverse student population and community engagement; an ability to work collegially with faculty, staff, and students; and a willingness to fill leadership roles in school, college, and university activities and professional associations are vital. Pursuit of external grants in support of research or creative activity, when appropriate and available in the faculty member's field, is encouraged. The candidate should have two years of college or university teaching beyond the graduate level.
Academic degree as defined by the academic unit and as appropriate for the position held. Demonstrated record of effectiveness as a teacher, a record of peer reviewed publication and/or peer-reviewed creative activity which has contributed to the discipline or field of study, to the candidate’s intellectual and artistic development, and to the quality of the academic enterprise; a record of professional service appropriate to the discipline; promise of growth in teaching and research or artistic and creative activity
Qualifications: terminal degree in theatre required (MFA, PhD, or DFA) with a degree in directing preferred; and professional directing experience is required.
