Position Description

Major/Essential Functions

The School of Accounting in the Rawls College of Business at Texas Tech University is accepting applications for the KPMG Professor of Accounting (a tenure-track faculty position at the Associate or Full Professor rank) to being in the fall 2018 semester. The School will consider applications for all teaching areas (with a preference for financial reporting) and all research areas. The KPMG Professor of Accounting will work closely with doctoral students (chairing and serving on dissertation committees, advising summer papers, etc.) and will teach one or more doctoral seminars. Salary and benefits are highly competitive, and additional funding is available for summer research support, data acquisition, and conference travel.

Qualified candidates should have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching (evidence by superior teaching evaluations, teaching awards, etc.) and a demonstrated record of publishing in top-tier academic accounting journals. Solicitation of external research funding is strongly encouraged in keeping with the University's status as a national research institution. Candidates who have very strong records of scholarship supported by extramural funding and who have the proven capacity or clear potential to bring externally sponsored research to Texas Tech University are encouraged to apply. Service duties include program-building, as well as commitment to extra-curricular activities. Service to the department, college, and university are expected. Candidates must hold a doctorate from an AACSB International accredited university. Professional experience or certification is preferred by not required.

Required Qualifications

Academic degree as defined by the academic unit and as appropriate for the position held. Demonstrated record of effectiveness as a teacher, a record of peer reviewed publication and/or peer-reviewed creative activity which has contributed to the discipline or field of study, to the candidate’s intellectual and artistic development, and to the quality of the academic enterprise; a record of professional service appropriate to the discipline; promise of growth in teaching and research or artistic and creative activity
