Manages a unit within a department. Plans, organizes, and develops goals and procedures for the unit. Represents the unit to administrators, outside agencies and others on relevant matters. Supervises subordinate staff.
Identify, develop, or evaluate marketing strategy to develop and/or increase business and/or sales within all areas of the Operations Division.
Use computer software to create designs, concepts, and sample layouts based on knowledge of layout principles and aesthetic design concepts.
Develop graphics, layout and content for all print media including but not limited to brochures, business cards, and stationary.
Design, build, and maintain Division website using authoring or scripting languages, content creation tools, management tools and digital media while adhering to University operating policies and procedures.
Maintain understanding of current marketing and web technologies through continuing education, reading, professional conferences, workshops, or groups.
Serve as a liaison between the Division and the Department of Communications and Marketing, the Division customers, representatives of the University, public interest groups, the community, and local news media to inform and promote goodwill.
Represent the Division and provide information to the University through e-mail, direct contact, TechAnnounce, University department meetings, and presentations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods. This includes alternative ways to inform and entertain via written, oral, and visual media.
Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language.
An understanding of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
Knowledge of principles for providing customer services and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
Bachelor’s degree plus three years supervisory experience; OR a combination of education and/or supervisory experience to equal seven years.
This is a Security Sensitive Level II Position: Applicants for this position will be subject to a criminal background check and may be required to be fingerprinted. Preferred understanding of fine arts in order to compose works of visual art or written word.
Knowledge of critical thinking with the use of logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions or approaches to problems.
Knowledge of developing, designing, or creating new applications, and ideas, including artistic contributions.
