Rio Grande Regional Hospitalis currently looking for aRegistered Nurse (RN) – PACU.
_Responsibilities:_ * Perform direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act, with emphasis on the post-anesthesia care patients/surgical services * Use therapeutic communication in daily practice * Maintain a safe and therapeutic PACU environment * Implement and direct care, using the nursing process with emphasis on the needs of individual PACU patients * Evaluate the effectiveness of the nursing process * Provide emotional support of the patient and significant others to make informed choices regarding health care * Delegate tasks to the appropriate caregiver * Participate in Perioperative services specific initiatives and process improvement * Promote a supportive PACU environment * Provide supervision of new employees, patient care assistants, vocational nurses, student nurses * Maintain high quality (age specific) care for adolescent, adult and geriatric patients, as assigned * Support the mission, vision and values of the organization * Provides immediate post-surgical care of patients ranging from infant to geriatrics who have had general anesthesia, regional anesthesia and IV sedation * Monitors all patients for airway and pain management * Proficient in interpretation of EKG changes, lab values and hemodynamic monitoring
_Qualifications:_ * Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing * Two years of acute care nursing experience * Minimum one year PACU experience preferred * Current RN licensure with the Board of Nurse Examiners of the State of Texas * Any new graduates of RN programs will provide proof of intent to complete license examination * Employment in this position contingent upon successful licensure as an RN * BLS-HCP current * ACLS and PALS required prior to taking call; not exceeding six months of employment
