Job Description

Reports to: Area Manager

Position Summary:Provide technical support and assistance to field operations in order to maintain the integrity of the fleet and increase the technical competence of the field operation. Increase field servicemen’s awareness of maintenance policy and procedure, and help insure compliance, insuring quality.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage start up and commissioning of 500 HP and above fleet units in parallel with field operations management. Provide all required documentation.

  • Perform RCFA (Root Cause Failure Analysis) on failures involving significant expense or downtime.

  • Analyze repetitive occurrences and provide technical solutions in order to drive down costs.

  • Operate and accurately collect data with a mechanical analyzer and/or emissions analyzer. Interpret the data and make recommendations to field operations management.

  • Manage large repairs and/or field overhauls of large horsepower fleet units within budgeted amounts and insure a quality repair.

  • Support and be technically engaged in the Field Automation initiative. Provide technical support as directed by Field Automation to the field operation.

  • Provide special topic technical training to field operations service personnel as directed.

Other Responsibilities

  • Work safely and present a leadership attitude toward safe work practices. Be an example. Provide all the support described above to customer owned units as well in support of the companies AMS business offerings.

Required Skills or Tools:

  • 10 or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Good customer management skills are required in order to maintain customer confidence both internally as well as externally.

  • Critical thinking and decision making skills are essential to balance customer needs with company cost issues.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.

  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.

  • Ability to write reports of a technical nature and articles for inter-company publication that conforms to prescribed style and format.

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

  • Must be computer literate

  • Works overtime and is available for on-call rotations. Overtime and on-call requirements include work after regular work hours, weekends and holidays

Preferred Education/Experience:

  • High school graduate; some college preferred.

  • Some form of industry sponsored mechanical analysis training is a plus.

  • Engine and Compressor Schools/Training. Experience working on CAT 3500 and 3600 engines.

  • Knowledge and experience on compression, process and production equipment, as well as electrical systems, including panel boards, skid wiring, etc.

  • Knowledge and experience of high speed and low speed equipment.

Physical Strain:

  • Must be willing to travel extensively.

  • Drive and work in inclement weather conditions for extended periods.

  • Must be able to work under pressure in a fast paced environment.

  • Must be able to work with the team in developing improved work processes for the department

  • Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds
