Position Summary: Directs and coordinates activities of personnel engaged in purchasing and distributing raw materials, equipment, machinery, and supplies in organization by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.
Manage materials planning, purchasing, materials control, and warehouse functions in a multi-location environment.
Responsible for inventory value of $8-15M and purchase volume of $5M annually.
Develop Material Plans to support business objectives including customer service, on-time delivery, inventory turns, cost, etc.
Identify and implement material planning strategies within Oracle.
Manage MRP data and ensure optimization of output.
Coordinate cross-functional activities to formulate disposition actions of slow moving or obsolete material.
Generate Inventory Turns metric and manage improvement.
Work with Corporate Supply Chain to identify and establish long-term strategic relationships with critical suppliers.
Manage supply base by developing procurement plans and actively measuring supplier performance. Analyze purchase price variances.
Assist in setting up regional vendors to partner with on local projects
Manage the creation and closure of WIP jobs. Analyze material cost variances.
Develop, implement and maintain an Inventory Cycle count program that achieves 99% accurate inventory levels. Ensures material control throughout facilities.
Analyze data and publish reports on key performance metrics.
Develop, implement, and maintain department work procedures. Identify and implement process improvement ideas.
Manages subordinate supervisors and employees in Purchasing, Warehouse, Order Entry, and Inside Sales.
Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Thorough knowledge of MRP, inventory management and warehouse management concepts.
Thorough knowledge of integrated business systems, Oracle preferred, and Microsoft officeproducts.
Strong demonstrated leadership skills. Highly motivated and ability to work independently. Must be an effective communicator.
Ability to develop personnel and think strategically
Detail oriented with exceptional follow through on tasks
Ability to manage a supply chain group of 15 personnel across large geographic area.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, client and customers.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
7-10 years materials management experience in a Capital Equipment Rental or Manufacturing environment or equivalent experience with a CPM or CPIM.
3 years supervisor or management experience.
