U.S. Xpress, Inc. Driver Liaison in New Caney, Texas
Responsible for assisting the Senior Driver Liaison in a network of driver friendly representatives and make their presence felt in the field. Required to develop and create continuity between new and rehired drivers to the overall operations. Must remain an active over-the-road driver while assuming liaison responsibilities. Develops a personal relationship with as many new and rehired drivers as possible while monitoring their first 90 days with the company.
Duties & Responsibilities
Be an active participant in the orientation process
Develop field assistants to assist the overall project
Hold round table meetings at terminals to assist in driver understanding of policies and procedures.
Positively affect driver retention by creating a friendly respected relationship to communicate driver issues.
Relate recognized problems or trends to Senior Driver Liaison
Visit multiple orientation facilities on a regular basis.
Maintain productive relationships with drivers.
Other duties as assigned
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 3 years of continuous driving experience required.
Hold an active CDL license.
Have an excellent safety and service record.
Must be flexible with work hours.
Knowledge of AS400 required.
Know points of contact for various departments including payroll, safety, operations and customer service preferred.
Possess excellent personal and communications skills in dealing with drivers.
Knowledge of regulations impacting daily operations (DOT – national and state)
Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
Good judgment and problem solving skills.
Ability to lift and lower up to 50 pounds must be able to carry 50 pounds, must be able to push up to 50 pounds, and pull up to 120 pounds.
Ability to stand and completely balance on full body weight while entering and exiting the tractor/trailer.
Ability to frequently walk 200 feet during the workday.
Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time while operating the vehicle.
Must be able to reach all vehicle controls for operation and all equipment for pre-trip inspections.
Must be able to handle and finger all vehicle controls for operation and all equipment for pre-trip inspections, maintain a constant and firm grip, and perform frequent fine hand manipulation.
Ability to reach across midline and crouch or squat to a minimum height of 44” at a 6” length.
Must be able to crawl under a minimum height of 44” during pre-trip inspections.
Must be able to maintain, balance on level and un-level ground and at elevations.
Must be able to stoop and kneel while performing pre-trip inspections.
Ability to climb 12” stairs using a handrail to enter and exit the terminal.
Ability to climb up to 24” and pull full body weight while entering and exiting the trailer.
Ability to enter and exit the truck while on the dock or on a ramp.
Ability to make quick rational decisions and have full and constant use of arms, hands, legs and feet while performing driving tasks such as turning, slowing, braking, passing, backing and parking the vehicle.
