Iasis Healthcare Speech Pathologist(PRN Days) in Odessa, Texas
Responsible for administration and direct application of Speech/Language Pathology treatment modalities as prescribed by a referring physician. Evaluates, plans, directs, and treats all patients referred for Speech/Language Pathology treatments to restore function and prevent disability following disease or injury. Assists patients to obtain maximum performance and function in society, while learning to live a routine "normal" life within the constraints of their disability. Ensures that patient changes are accurate and entered on a timely basis. Participates in all infection control, departmental equipment training, organizational safety and fire safety programs. Assures personal competency. Provides information related to departmental budget considerations in relationship to Speech Pathology needs for optimum patient care and service. Assists in scheduling of patient visits for speech pathology evaluation and treatment. Performs some administrative duties. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of a patient; possess the ability to identify requirements of each patient relative to his or her age specific needs and to proved the care needed as described in the unit’s policies and procedures skills check lists. Must be able to respect diversity of each person’s values, culture, spiritual beliefs, and other socio-economic issues in addressing the needs of patients, visitors, and co-workers. Participates in Peformance Improvement activities. Provides service to age range from infant to geriatric.
Regulatory Requirements: * High School graduate or equivilant; * Current Texas State Speech Pathology Licensure, * Graduate of an approved School of Speech/Language Pathology. * BLS Certification mandatory
- Previous experience in all aspects of physical therapy services required or the ability to learn and demonstrate competency after successful completion of a training program.
Language Skills: * Ability to read and communicate effectively in English. * Additional languages preferred. Skills:
- Basic computer knowledge. Knowledge of equipment utilized in the diagnosis, evaluation, and treatment of speech pathology. Must be able to determine appropriate patient procedures and evaluate results.
