Texas Tech University Sr Patient Services Specialist in Permian Basin, Texas
This position is responsible for assuring smooth operation of the clinic patient flow and serve as primary contacts for patients. Responsible for scheduling appointments, preparing necessary paperwork before the patient visits, receiving patients, and maintaining records. In addition, this position is responsible for processing charges for clinic services, filing insurance claims, responding to requests for information from patients and insurance companies and maintaining related information for the department. Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of people. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Work is performed in usual clinic conditions and requires a high degree of contact of both direct with patients, HSC staff, and insurance companies. Employees have cash handling responsibilities.
Supervise, train and coordination of front desk staff at the Endocrinology and Diabetes Center; cross training all clerical positions to ensure coverage; monitor and adjust lunch schedules for staff to ensure smooth operations; process and approve employee leave requests; monitor time and attendance, adjust time on TCP; ensure clinic phones get answered and monitor patient phone calls; respond to phone inquiries and clinic inquiries as needed; verification of insurance benefits, obtain insurance referrals and/or prior authorizations; disseminate essential paperwork to staff and clinic personnel; register new patients by completing patient demographics as well as entering the required insurance information into IDX; ensure patient bump list is completed; create documents for PSS staff containing updated information for scheduling, verifications and prior authorizations; coordinate with Endo and/or IM Administration, Billing and Coding, Business Office and Medical Records / EMR to ensure timely and efficient clinic operations.
Education: A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of general office experience. A minimum of two (2) years in a clinic or physician's office. OR
At least three (3) years of experience at TTUHSC in the Patient Services Program, documented completion of all relevant IDX training and a current performance appraisal with a rating of meeting or exceeding expectations.
Bilingual helpful but not required; must have the ability to reason appropriately and coordinate customer issues to ensure very positive results; demonstrate supervision and customer service to deliver the highest quality of patient care and have a positive interpersonal relationships with physicians, supervisors and coworkers by providing services in a warm, empathetic and personal manner.
