Assignment: Full-time Co-op January – June/July/December 2016

We are seeking an experienced, high caliber Co-op, Test Development Engineer. As a member of the Automated Test Engineering organization, you may support prototyping, electrical characterization and verification, PCB development, coding for automation, and lab maintenance for implantable medical devices for cardiac and neuromodulation applications.

Impact this role will have on St. Jude Medical:

  • Debug and validate custom PCBs to provide an interface between the test equipment, computer, and devices

  • Debug and validate custom mechanical fixtures/tools for devices to provide uniform positioning, shaking, and shielding

  • Write and support custom software to communicate with the Device and test equipment to perform complex trimming algorithms and configure device hardware settings

  • Write and support custom FW for devices to allow full control of the HW for testing purposes

  • Characterize performance and behavior of devices and test equipment/software

  • Create test plans, collect test data and analyzed results for engineering reports

  • Support the Lab infrastructure.

Your experience(s), education and knowledge will further expand St. Jude Medical’s marketplace success:

  • Junior or Senior level student in Electrical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering with Electrical focus

  • Solid fundamental understanding of analog and digital circuits

  • Hands on experience in lab testing and debug of electrical circuits using standard bench equipment

  • Software knowledge preferably with C and/or C#

  • Knowledge of schematic and layout PCB tools

  • Soldering and de soldering techniques and ability to assemble prototype boards

  • Strong verbal and written communication with good organizational skills and ability to multi-task

  • Ability to take initiative and work independently
