We are seeking a Compliance Analyst with privacy and/or HIPAA compliance experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing oversight and leadership on privacy related initiatives, subject matter expertise on privacy laws and regulations, proactive and effective communication with internal and external parties, collaborative resolution of business issues, and exceptional customer service for internal and external clients.
Work with internal and external business partners to implement and monitor privacy compliance programs
Understand the flow of information and how the information is utilized and use that knowledge to support the integrity of the Privacy Compliance program
Assist in the implementation and maintenance of HIPAA training program and related processes
Assist in regulatory reviews and privacy exams
Communicate with areas affected by new laws and regulations and monitors to assure that necessary changes to policies and procedures are made
Serve as an internal expert resource for privacy compliance
Respond to technical and procedural questions and leads special compliance projects
Identify and lead resolution for privacy compliance issues including effective communication of these issues to other business units.
Prepare and respond to various audits, compliance questions or Senior Leader requests.
Complete other related duties and special projects as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree or commensurate work experience
A minimum of 3 years experience in a senior compliance role in a financial services environment.
Must have prior experience with HIPAA regulations in a legal setting.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Organizational, project management, and risk management skills
Must possess a strong technical aptitude and be able to effectively communicate with technology professionals
Excellent written and verbal communication skills (A writing sample will be required)
Knowledge of information security principles and controls.
Prior research experience with administrative law and regulation.
IAPP or FLMI designation a plus
Five years business experience, including at least three years of experience in compliance in a major insurance or banking institution or regulatory agency.
Working knowledge and general understanding of legal/regulatory privacy principles which directly affect the financial services industry and their clients.
Highly developed analytical, problem recognition and resolution, organizational, and communication skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Understanding of regulatory environments
Ability to independently prioritize and work on multiple high priority projects and assignments simultaneous with minimal supervision
Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel
