Job Description SummaryPartner with business and development team members to plan, program and execute automated testing. Design, code, test, and implement automated software testing programs and testing frameworks for Transamerica Life & Health Products and Accumulation Products.
Independently, supports and mentors development teams and QA team members with designing, coding and testing software for product test automation. Performs automated QA and testing tasks for multiple complex Life & Health and Accumulation product implementations across multiple business areas.
The work responsibilities will be mostly Mainframe, but there will be opportunities to use and program in C# to assist the rest of the team with work.Job Description
Acts as a junior member or senior leader to team while also performing the following:
Utilizes automated testing tools to build and execute tests
Assists team with problem resolution and decision making
Coordinates with business teams, development teams and vendors to determine testing and test automation coding requirements
Designs, codes, and tests components of test automation for complex or cross-functional systems, sub-systems or other technical solutions
Identifies multiple solutions and determines best approach to solve complex test automation opportunities with systems and software
Analyzes and recommends test automation tools
Demonstrates an understanding of agile software development
Work with multiple sales and administration systems
Accountable for on-time completion of own tasks and assists other team members to complete their tasks
Demonstrates agile practices and development of user stories, acceptance criteria and tasks
Facilitates conversations between developers, testers, business, product owners and stakeholders
Serves as liaison to other teams to help them implement test automation and QA strategies
Demonstrates knowledge in multiple areas of technology & actuarial sciences
Shows continued initiative to develop functional and professional skill or knowledge in automated testing
Remains current with developments and trends in agile principles and areas of expertise; shares gained knowledge with the organization
Participates in Company Development & Actuarial Communities of Practice and other professional software development associations or activities
4 years of experience with Mainframe Systems (COBOL / JCL) and
Experience with Object Oriented Language (e.g., C#),
Experience with database technology (DB2,SQL,ORACLE)
Has experience with Mainframe technology and Object Oriented Development languages (C#/Java) and has demonstrated ability to work in both stacks concurrently
Knowledge in one or more of the following business areas: insurance (life, health, long term care), annuities, retirement/pension
Knowledge using Test Driven Development (TDD) and Unit Testing or other XP Agile Principles
Actuarial or data analytical background
Knowledge of agile terminology and ability to apply agile principles
Effective organization and prioritization skills with the ability to balance multiple projects within tight timelines
Problem solving and decision making skills
Sharing of knowledge /skills
Extensive experience with automated testing tools, software development and testing methodologies
Ability to acquire knowledge of various applications to gain proficiency and share knowledge with others
Experience in the following environments: SDLC (PROD/MODL/S&I/TEST), version control, build/deployment
Bachelor’s or higher degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Actuarial Science, Math or technically related field, or equivalent education/experience.
Job and compensation levels depend upon an applicant’s qualifications including the extent of his/her relevant experience and other job related factors and will be determined by hiring supervisors/managers and HR.
